Oh hang on, no it's not - it's old tech but it's flipping Apple and the fanbois love it :/

Even BBC breakfast news are getting excited about it, it must be bad...

.

A lot of hype for nothing TBH.

The multi-touch technology has been around for ages: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zp-y3ZNaCqs

iPhone does look pretty cool though - I wouldn't kick it out of bed. But I'm more looking forward to the Google Phone. I love Google products. I can't wait to see what they'll come up with. It won't be as sexy as iPhone, but it will be cheap and it will work!

You say multi touch technology has been around for ages yet show a video of an experimental screen thats from last year ?? Is that your idea of ages ??

J.Y Han released this video back in January 2006 AFAIR and had been working on it since 2003/2004.

Have a day.

Aye i know, it was on the tv and my mums bf responded by saying the folllowing, "Oh that looks awsome", which by that time i was mid sentance stating the following "Its crap..."

a lot of fuss about nothing really, just because its new, and a development they think is going to be as big as Ipod..

But i suppose they are doing this and apple have nothing so praise them for that, Microsoft like to get things out first and annoy people with the poor quality.

I am not very excited with the iPhone (or any other mobile phone) at all. Mobile phones are a classic example of technology that has evolved way beyond our needs with the phone companies developing new technologies just to sell to gullible people that think they can not possibly survive without with the sole purpose of extracting more money from the user.

On the mobile phone front, no one, and I mean no one, needs a phone that can do more than speak and text. All other features are useless inmho.

Who wants to carry a mobile phone, a MP3, a camera and a pocket PC? Why not combine all four devices into one? I want one small device that fits in my shirt pocket, not four separate clunky devices.

Mobiles that only provide a Phone feature will not sell. People want email, Internet, music, video and photos on the go.

Get with the times mate.

Have a day.

I normally get the latest phones that come out but this is 1 fone i will be staying AWAY from...i dont like n e thing about it, especially for what u get for the price lol

The G-Phone will be cheap as chips when it's released. It will provide voice, email, internet and music on-the-go. Google won't screw it up, I can't wait to see what they release.

I had a play on the i-phone, it is slick and pretty cool. However the lack of 3G and compatibility with certain programs I'd like to run on my phones puts me off. My M700 has everything/more than the i-phone. It has built in GPS, 3G, WiFi and with a 2gb card I can store lots of crap on there. I've got TomTom installed on it, and other 3rd party apps as well as messenger etc...

If the I-phone had all those features I'd snap it up, but at the moment it's just a passing trend it won't last that long.

#The only thing I'm not bothered about is having a camera on the phone - it's something I seldom use.

They do sell because I bought one. :)

I used to have the latest all singing, all dancing phones but they just suck up the money and I never used all of the features. I mean, who actually uses video calls and keeps files on their phone. As for photos/video, all of the pictures ever taken on a phone are crap.

You are a classic case, you have been convinced by the advertising and the fashion/lifestyle they create to believe that you cannot possibly function as a human without these devices, you can. :)

Another mediocre overpriced Apple product.

But hey, its Apple, it has an 'i' in front of it, and it looks cool right? So people will lap it up regardless.

It's made by Apple, that should be reason enough to stay away from it.

Problem with Apple stuff, is that there are far better products out there that do the same, look as good and are cheaper, ipod for example, the creative stuff is much easier to use and much better, same with this pap phone,

In a way I agree, I've taken what would probably be a downgrade in terms of my most recent phone since the features aren't quite as good but it is smaller and neater than the phone it replaced so I can live with that.

However while I don't use video calling I do keep files on my phone, I use it as my mp3 player for when I'm wandering about town or on a long journey. It saves me carrying two devices and works brilliantly considering it is about as small as most mp3 players I've seen, certainly any of the hard drive based ones.

Take is easy wee man. :)

I happen to be a proud owner of a Sony Ericsson T630 - rubbish camera, crap speaker, awful WAP, absolutely no storage, but it works perfectly as a phone. I also carry a MP3, a compact camera and a XDA2 pocket PC; it's a pain in the hole TBH.

I should have made it clearer in original my post; people WILL expect all of these features on mobile phones in the very near future. We're not there yet, but in a few years all mobile phones will have music, photo, video, email and Internet as standard.

Voice-only phones simply will not sell.

Have a day wee man. ok? :)

Sorry, this is completely off topic but Conscript doesn't have any contact info in his profile. What font do you use for the word Conscript in your sig?

So it means he had been working on and developing it since 2003/2004 and got it working then made a video of it working properly in 2006. The consumer incarnation of it arrives on the market in 2007 and its been around for ages ??
