On the road....
Just got a pull driving home from work (circa 3:30 am) by a copper, not a traffic cop I may add.

I asked him why I'd been stopped and he replied "as I was driving correctly"

WTF!

I swore at him and told him something along the lines of "next time I'll drive like a @~*% and see if he leaves me alone!"

He was'nt too impressed by this, and really did'nt like it whan I pointed out to him that I'd clocked him 2 miles back and it was obvious that he'd exceeded the limit by a very long way to catch me up so quickly!

I wrote down his number & told him I'd be making a formal complaint (which I won't tbh)

He went away quite sheepish after I'd finished tearing a strip off him, I don't think he'd figured on finding a completely non-******, professional driver with an attitude problem towards jobs worth coppers! :D

He said that most drunk drivers drive slowly, which is why he stopped me, personally I reckon he was just bored and thought I'd entertain him.

Having calmed down a bit, I'm surprised I reacted towards him the way I did in some ways, in others, I'm not.

Sums up our Police tbh, stick to the rules & get nabbed!

Tomorrow, I will make a point of driving home in the style I used to drive my BMW (and never got a pull!) and see what happens....... :D

Rant over! :p

I've been over for driving properly, I just answered his questions had a bit of a chat, and went on my way. Took all of 5 minutes. I don't like jobsworths and I can understand your frustration, but I've learnt in life that generally winding someone up with a tiny bit of authority over you just isn't worth it. Ah well....

Quite! ;):D

I don't generally make a habit of having a go @ coppers, but, this one was asking for it.....:D

Yeah I know :) Sounds like he did - I would have liked to have been a fly on the wall there ;)

Once he realized what I did for a living, he lost interest..... :D

Coppers & truckers don't mix. :D

O/T.

Freefaller, I thought you were a Don

Sounds like you overreacted, to me. Unless he was being awkward or abusive towards you (and even then, it's not recommended), there's absolutely no need to have a go at anyone.

I echo this as I was about to post word for word what he said.

Fair play to the copper, at worst he wasted 5 minutes of your oh so precious time (I'm sure it would have been less had you not acted unreasonably), at best he could have nabbed a drunk driver.

Agreed. The OP makes you look like a bit of a moron tbh :o

I don't see what the problem is with police officers making random stop checks. How many people on here moan about the amount of uninsured/untaxed vehicles on the roads etc? If more random stops took place there'd be more of them being caught.

Frankly, swearing at the guy for doing his job is reprehensible, and I'd say you're pretty lucky that you walked away from the incident without him deciding to do anything about it.

Random stops are great tbh.
Being stopped by the police to be told that you were driving well, a bit ott, but if he pulled up next to you and commented on good driving then it could only be a good thing.
I guess he thought you were trying not to bring attention to your driving to hide something?

I didn't realise that the police were not allowed to exceed limits. I'll remember that next time I see one behind me.

I love it when I get pulled over, it makes me feel special and all warm inside.

Just be polite and have a laugh with them, I've always felt that the police down my way are a nice crowd as long as you don't give them any jip - don't give them any excuse to use their authorative power.

Only thing that bugs me is when they lie. Like when they pulled me over because:

"we've had a lot of the model of your car being stolen recently"

I said - "What Civic VTI-S's?"

He said yes, and I politely explained that it was very unlikely as the car is a limited run, and i've only seen about three in the whole of sussex since i've owned the car and all of those have been at owners club meets.

Politely told him that I didnt mind being pulled over at all, but i'd prefer if he told me the real reason.

He said the car looked suspicious () and like the OP, I was driving "too cautiously" in his opinion.

Well you would if there was a marked police car up your backside at 2am wouldn't you?

Agreed, I've even had a copper wind his window down at a set of traffic lights to have a word. I thought "here we go ", but he just said "Nice alloys" :D:D
