Am I allowed to really dislike iPhone/Apple hype

Sorry, this is completely off topic but Conscript doesn't have any contact info in his profile. What font do you use for the word Conscript in your sig?

It's a custom font, it was called 'Earth' and I would offer to send it to you, but since I formatted, I no longer have it on my PC :(

So it means he had been working on and developing it since 2003/2004 and got it working then made a video of it working properly in 2006. The consumer incarnation of it arrives on the market in 2007 and its been around for ages ??

5 years to me is ages. Yup :) Anything else little Bear?

I thought the iPhone would be shoddy, but I've been using one for 2 weeks and it is amazing. EDGE is nowhere near as slow as gprs and web browsing is much faster than an N95 in real terms thanks to the interface on the iPhone. No fiddly typing in URLs or hoping the arrow will land on a hyperlink like on my N95.

The camera sucks though.

i only want a voice phone that can text and make calls thats all i use my phone for.

having said that if the iphone was smaller, because it combines both ipod and phone, then i would get one. plus it looks very cool.

I'm an i-phobe, I don't own anything ever made by apple , never have done, and never intend to. Strangely I get by :)

It doesn't do enough that the iPod touch can't do to make it worth more.

All it does extra is make calls, send texts (badly) and go online anywhere (rather than needing wifi like the ipod does) and use 'audio only' bluetooth.

Everything else is present or can be present on the iPod touch, which is, incidentally one of the best products i've used in the last few years, it's fantastic.

Haha me too. You know what? There are other - and better mp3 players around!! Omgzz! And my mobile phone - get this - makes phone calls and sends text messages. Because... it's a phone. Not a fashion accessory. I don't leave it on the table when I go to pubs. That's so 90s. :p

http://www.time.com/time/specials/2007/article/0,28804,1677329_1678542_1677891,00.html iPhone rocks .

Theres just something about apple products I love, I know there are other products out there that would most proberbly do the job better but no-way is there anything that does it looking as cool or feeling as nice.
That's a great summation of the attitude of a typical Apple evangelist to be honest. "It might not do the job it sets out to do very well but damn it looks good!". The irony of course in buying into the fashion statement angle is that every other fanboy has the same attitude, so......

iPhone will always sell because people don't actually make the effort to research what these phone actually consist of, they just buy into the hype and look at what's advertised, not what actually is. It's the same with most major sections of the electronics market, whether it be computers or Home cinema.

Case in point. :D

Take is easy wee man. :)

Have a day wee man. ok? :)

Any particular reason why you're making a complete **** of yourself? Seriously, you sound ridiculous. Have a day? Do you mean have a nice day? wtf.

Samsung F700. End of topic! Looks like an i-phone and has a slide out keyboard too. Is apparently better designed too and doesnt have dodgy SMS!

How is that ironic?

Maybe if he said he was buying apple products to be different or individual, like the thousands of 15 year old fad followers who dress like everyone else in order to be different.

As it is, he said he likes Apple products because they look nice.

Well does any Microsoft product you buy run smoothly and bug free without any hassle? I think we all know the answer to that :D

Yep, 95% of all the Microsoft stuff I have bought (100's of products) all work fine, with no problems!

I've been waiting for the F700 too, but it's dropped the 5MP camera for a 3.2MP and has no WiFi, which is a shame. Still it looks like an amazing phone though.

However, I might be tempted to wait till early next year and go for the soon to be announced Sony Ericsson P5i I really liked my P900.

Oh and I have no intention of getting an iPhone. My girlfriend thinks they look good though, but what does she know :p

On the mobile phone front, no one, and I mean no one, needs a phone that can do more than speak and text. All other features are useless inmho.

sign of the times when you NEED a phone that can text. :(

EDIT : is it just old people like me that "say sign of the times?" lol
