After moving from London back to Oz after 10 years I've finally managed to set up the home cinema. I bought all the gear in July so had to wait for shipping and renovations but it was worth the wait.

Gear includes

Toshiba HD-XE1 HD DVD player
Panasonic DMR-EH50 DVD recorder
Foxtel IQ
Pioneer 50" 6th Gen (upgrading to latest 8th Gen hopefully before Xmas)
Kef 3005 5.1 speaker system
Onkyo TX-SR805 Receiver
PC connected to TV also

So prior to setup using a 32" Samsung LD :

After :

Still need to change the back door and get some glass shelving done for the units and centre speaker to sit on. On the windows are 1/2 and full blackout blinds as well as a remote controlled skylight blind :

Here are the ceiling mounted rears :

And here we see the sub tucked away(ish) yet still providing great sound :

Finally an evening shot :

This is my first 5.1 speaker system and I can't express how happy I am with it. I kept reading on other forums that unless you get larger speakers, as opposed to "Lifestyle" speakers, you won't get good performance, well that's garbage in my opinion !! This system is more than capable of filling my larger than average TV room with rich detailed sound, it really is like being at the cinema !!

I do however keep looking at the space the TV is in an think that perhaps a 60 inch Pioneer would fill the space better !! Haha.............

thankyou.... I must point out it's in the newly renovated, semi-detached, half of my parents house..... just gonna live here for a year and save some more for my own place..... gotta give my dad the credit for the renovations !

Needs a Big-Ass PJ-Screen to come down over the front of the TV for the Full Home Cinema feel!!!... :D

Only joking!... I'm just Jealous!.. :p

Nice Setup there mate!.. Just wish the Boss-Lady'd let me do summut like that!!!.. :(

Very nice setup mate - the tech, and the room

Though i'd have to agree - 60" would fill that gap a bit better!!!

With a room that big, with another adjoining room I'd have spend a couple of K on floostander main speakers speakers, powerful subwoofer and good av amp...and not so-so speaker setup.

Looks sweet and a really like the way it doesn't dominate the room so it can be a normal living room or your Cinema room as required. Got to admit I'd be tempted with the projector screen comming down for movies! Your right about the 'lifestyle' speakers they are a lot better than some hi fi snobs make out allthough I'd advise avoiding listening to anything high end with big speakers as you will realise the limitations of your kit.

Nice setup mate.

What's the TV situation in Aus? Sat, Cable HD etc?

Just after some general info.

Foxtel IQ is the same as Sky+...... it's via cable in my place and apparently there will be a HD Foxtel box early next year..... nowhere near the number of channels as on Sky though !

I was just about to suggest the exact same thing! :D

I am seriously jealoulous, your living room is lush.

EDIT - Except the white leather sofas, yuck! :D

i can understand why people go for lifestyle setups but have you listened to some properly setup full size speakers?

they are big for a reason - its simple physics!

nice setup, its nicely integrated / hidden away. :)

Wrong. Sat speakers are fine if you understand you're making a compromise. For high quality sound, larger speakers are essential. And in a big room so is a quality subwoofer. Nothing snobbish about it.

Jealous of the OP screen but not the sound system.
