They're not large as in BF2 but not overly small either. The 5 or 6 I played were all fairly close quarters and about the same size as the average cod2 map. I think there are like 15 maps or something though so the others might be different.

I know where I'll be doing my next preorder if they keep similar prices. Nice. I wouldn't mind waiting a day to save £10.
 
Does this game still support DX9 and DX8.1 based systems? On CoD2 you could switch to 8.1 and it ran 100% smoother without the fancy effects. Just wondering if it is all DX9 now, seeing as it looks to be a huge graphical improvement.

I like run and gun but also a slight zoom/aim point for mid to long rang shots,so im aiming for that perk that gives you 2 main guns maybe a semi auto sniper and a sub machine gun or carbine:D


Cant wait to get this later.

Edit, how many players on servers generally?
 
Just been into town now and got it, looks wicked, I didn't play the demo so I'm excited to get home and have a play.

Shame I'm at Uni till 4pm :(
 
Played the demo last night and was totally gobsmacked at how well it ran on my old 3700+ and X1800XT. Great fun too, reminds me of the original CoD (which is one of my fav games ever) more than CoD2 (which didn't really do much for me).

Anyway, went straight into town this morning and blagged a copy!

CoD2 allowed you to switch between DX7 & DX9, it runs a lot better in 7 and it turns off some effects (like snow) too which makes visibility better, so most people who played it online a lot set it to that mode to gain an advantage over DX9 players.

Afaik, CoD4 is DX9 only.
 
Can't get the game to work. I've re-installed it 3 times now. It only loads once then crashes back to desktop. If i cancel out of a video it just stops working. Really annoying.

Installed it, plays brilliantly on 1280 x 1024, nearly all on high

hi

it could be just my luck , but ive found that all the call of duty series has run very well on my pc ?

the series seems to be very stable and bug free?
