*Gears Of War* Thread :o) Game Pics & Performance.

Sorted it, yep I did create a Live profile (well I logged into my Windows Live account and it tagged me up, just chose a gamertag and all done)

What Games For Windows fails to do though is create the My Games folder in your documents folder and then the subfolders needed - this only happens if you have your mydocs folder mapped to a HDD not on the C drive as the exact same happened with UT3 Demo but I blamed the issue on it being a BETA demo but it seems it's a retail issue now that MS need to fix.


I created the SubDIR structure (got Dannage onIRC to list the folders) then loaded the game and it saved the settings in the relevant folders!

The structure is like this:

Hey guys, I've been playing through the single player with a local profile and when I went back to "Continue Campaign" it said it didn't have any saved game info - anybody got any idea wtf?? I really can't be bothered playing through both the first acts to get back where i was only to have it die on me again :/

Anyone else had this problem or know why it might have happened?

Same thing happened when I played a co-op game with my mate, he was hosting and when we went back to play it, it had lost the save info...

The "checkpoints" directory in my documents/my games/gears of war is empty too..... so annoying

What software are you using for screen shots..Thx ;)
 
I seem to remember when I was trying to change stuff in the ini files, it kept replacing them back to their original state. I also tried deleting the GoW folder and it came back with all of the previous settings. Someone on the Epic forums said to set the files as read only if you dont want them to change themselves back (apparently it worked). What are you guys trying to do with the ini files anyway?

Played the game now, in DX10 mode with everything up on highest (no FSAA though, I see no need for it) I'm getting an almost constant 60fps - no stuttering at any point either and again as with COD4/Crysis etc load times are record breaking!

If you are referring to me RoachycaL I'm not trying to do anything with them, I am not changing anything at all. I literally quit a game after reaching a checkpoint, reload the game and it has forgotten all my settings and my savegames.....

VERY frustrating!

1680x1050? Texture Quality on Highest? Post processing Intense?

Post Processing on default everything else on maximum yes, what does PP do? in UT3 it just gave a different colourcast I found and no fps difference.

People have been complaining about that on the epic forums too... Seems like it dosnt ask you to create a profile, you have to do one manually - Hit F1 when your in the main menu or something to that effect? Its insane I know but as are most of the bugs and glitches around at the moment
 
I only wanna know 2 things...

1. Can i keep things in a first person view?

2. And most importantly can i frag the pants off... i mean play against, Xbox 360 players? My gf's sisters lad has never played on a PC before, he plays this game and Quake4 all of the time on his xbox360 and believes hes some kind of gaming god. I've tried to explain to him that i'd biff him silly and he'd not even get one frag on me in a duel. Basically, I just wanna show him that although i've never even played it before he's got no chance :D i'll repeadedly spank him until he cries infront of his gf! cos i believe he will lol

Could not spot any blur difference :)

wow, nice one :D thanks for that, but is it me or does intense seem a wee bit over the top on brightness? i use vivid personally

Vivid is my fav too, Intense is like someone just pointed an LED torch in your face!
Muted and Default have no difference so by default of course the default setting = muted :p don't know why there are two settings for the same thing but hey!

i think the dif is that if your card can support the feature, then you can test by enabling muted. if you see what i mean, so by default (or which ever has it off) its still possible to play, but with a card that can have it, its set to muted for minial graphical lag at a default setup for the noobs that play straight off without adjusting settings.

i think anyway, all my claims are mostly made by me lol

why does this game not work for me , i can go online yet when i try to play campaign single player i will get a windows runtime c++ error. Any ideas guys?
