This is the cinematic mod which finaly came out for episode 2.

1.1) Memory requirements

A minimum of 3 GB RAM is needed for playing on maxed texture/shader settings.
A minimum of 2 GB RAM is needed for playing on medium texture/shader settings.

You can try the mod on 32 Bit, but most likely you need to set texture
and shader details to medium or low for crashfree play (it will still looks
good at medium settings). 64 Bit users are able to play with all settings
maxed out, as the engine can use all available RAM for allocating memory blocks.

1.4) Software requirements

You need a full installed STEAM with the following full installed and unlocked games:

+ Half-Life 2
+ Half-Life 2 Episode One

Even though the characters don't look like the original ones, they still look insanely detailed.

How nicely done is this:

Anyways, if you wanted a reason to play episode 2 again, this could be one.

looks dang sexy makes you think ram is dirt cheap why can't all games textures be just as good , oh and i think the new Alyx model looks like she had her lips done

I played it for a bit, all maxed out and no problems on XP.

but shame your old savegames are gone, because I couldn't be asked to do the whole cave full of antlions again.

I wonder why Valve don't do this and just have a "cinematic textures" option default to "off" ?

I expect it's because they don't have to, so they don't waste time (aka money) on it :(

its probably because it would increase bandwidth usage and download times significantly.
