boss took his car

I'm don't feel quite so strongly about this, probably because I'm not fussy about my own car - I will/have/do let anyone drive it who has valid insurance.

It really depends how the act was intended. The OP in the Pistonheads thread doesn't say how well he knows his boss's boss. It could be that it was intended in good humour (how many of you have 'borrowed' a friend's car for a laugh?) and the OP just took it the wrong way.

If I thought the above were true, I'd let it slide and get him back one day. If I thought he was trying to intimidate me (never let people intimidate you, no matter how powerful you think they are) then I'd be straight onto the police, making him look very silly.
 
even if the guy is insured on any motor its only TPO isnt it?

i wouldnt ring the police about it but id have definitely let his senior managers know so they could contact him and get him to come back.

Also i have never borrowed a friends car "for a laugh" even if someone is staying at my house and i only need to move car on drive to get out i always ask!
 
I have drove a friend's cars without there consent. Like when I hid sam's ZS in a tent at the camping meet.

I know he would realise I would never damage his car and also would see the funny-side. I would be able to take the joke if he had done it to me and he knows that too.

But as the chap has posted on PH about it I guess his feelings are different and that he doesn't approve of it.
 
I certainly wouldn't call the police, The chap on that thread has a straight cool head on and did the correct thing at the end of the day.

agreed. he's done the best thing. taken his boss down a notch or 2 and made it clear to everyone else to show him and his property some respect. :)

HR and the individual in questions boss are both aware of what happened.

I have had both a verbal and written apology from the person in question and the company have also apologised saying that if there are any repercussions (damage, fines etc)then they will be jointly responsible for the outcome and I have there full backing if anything comes from this.

It turns out that he actually went for a sandwich and only went about .5 mile up the road and did not pass any cameras or lights, here he met a friend and they chatted for the time he was away. The friend has confirmed this and so have the garage he visited.

I have said that I will be taking the car to my local dealer for a check over and I will be mailing the company with any incurred costs, I am waiting to find out what their response to this will be.
