most games run perfectly at that res on single card

but crossfire would last u a lot longer and u should see between 70-80% in some games.

You would need to get a Crossfire compatible motherboard first though, looking at your sig spec.

As said no need for crossfire at that res, I ran a 2900XT on the same res and most games were in the 100+ fps with single card.

2 x 2900 XT in crossfire is quite quicker than an 8800 ultra for about the same price.

I use 2 in crossfire and have noticed a major leap in performance from an 8800GTX. However, i do game @ 1920x1200 which pretty much needs crossfire for todays titles. As has been stated - you should be fine with one card at the moment!

I am thinking of upgrading to a 22inch widescreen monitor so will be lookign at a larger size resoultion shortly anyway, which is the reason I have asked.

Plus SLI mobtherboards cannot run ATi x 2 cards! oh bugger, new mobo time me thinks.

22" tit monitor is 1680x1050 which 1 2900 can handle in most games

I can't run crysis very well in medium detail, can't run CoD4 properly, etc etc.

I've just moved to a 24" display too, so its got worse

I want to get two 3870's when they arrive.

Hi, you'll have to hope that they fix the issue with crossfire and the full release of crysis because on the demo it ain't working...

well i run crysis dx10 @ 1680x1050, medium detail , runs very smooth...

Avg: 39.525 - Min: 21 - Max: 61

i guess it depends on the system...

thats because it not been put in to ATI driver yet
