Hey guys for those of you into coffee and stuff,im after sothing that will make espresso, capuccino and all the other poncy stuff!

Anyway the Gaggia stuff seems to be the reccomended stuff, im just wondering if this really is the case, they seem to do reasonable reconditioned units on their websites, im just wondering which one you guys would recommend?

Alternitively i could just go for a cafetiere. But it would be nice to have something that could do cappucino's etc.

If you want good Gaggia, you have to spend the money - £250 or so for the original. You should also clear as to whether you want a coffee machine that makes filter coffee, or one for cappuccinos etc, which will make small shots of espresso coffee.

I would go into a shop and try and find one that doesn't feel too plastic. I found Krups to be quite good quality. Also to get the best out of your coffee, you'll want to get your own beans, and then grind them with an electric grinder.

As has been said be sure you get what you want, I've had both an expresso style coffee maker and a filer one and I find I get much more use out of the filter machine, guess it's just the type of coffee I prefer.

My real advice would be stear clear of tasimo style machines, anything where you have to buy the makers pre packaged coffee as it limits you options and is generally speaking pretty poor stuff.

Ive been stung with pod machines, which is why i want something which takes beans, filter machines are quite cheap arent they.

I might just go with a cafetiere and some beans to start with i think.

The gaggia's are quite nice, the small ones. I'd for go a classic just on looks, but its very simple. want a poncey one you need to spend a bit more

Ok in terms of reliability. But remember you can't just buy a machine and be done with it, needs to be looked after and bits will need to be replaced every now and then.

if your feeling swish, i personally like the [SIZE=-1]Iberital l'annas. or even better a ladri. but we are talking a lot of monies for one of those, there not really for domestic use.

whats your budget? i think you can pick up a gaggia classic for £200 from one of our resellers :)

Cafetere + Good Beans + Grinder = Coffee Heaven.

You don't need all this fancy crap just good quality ingredients!

I found this out recently, although I had the beans ground for me when I bought the coffee. What kind of grinder do you use?

My girlfriend picked up some hazelnut and cinnamon coffee from the local farmers market and it tastes great. Don't think I will ever go back to instant coffee after tasting this.
