Got flashd by a Speed Camera in Germany

A colleague of mine has recently received the German equivalent of a summons (well my German isn't so good, but it mentions 95kph and 70kph which I assume was the limit?)

He recalls being flashed by a camera setup in the Brunswick-Leipzig area.

He was driving a British registered articulated truck.

Got flashed on the A6 in France 2 weeks ago was doing 90 odd, have not heard anything yet.
Weird thing is 90 seems slow over there, everyone else seems to be going faster than that.

if he doesnt turn up to court though

what are they going to do

they're hardly going to get him extradited over a speeding ticket.

and hes from a different country, so they have no authority to suspend his british driving license.

And what happens when he has to drive his truck in Germany again? If he gets stopped and they noticed he has ignored a previous speeding ticket then things could get very unpleasant.

depends how often he drives to germany i guess

if hes over there a lot, it might be worth replying and paying up. If he was only there on a one off and normally only does UK drops, he can probably ignore it.

He travels weekly (in the same Scania) to a Mercedes factory delivering sunroof components iirc, so its quite an issue if he ignores it i reckon.

I'll give him a call when he's back in the UK to see what (if anything) he's done about it....

I think that hte countries need to have an agreement with each other to collect fines in the home country, I think there is an agreement between Holland, Germany and Belgium but don't know if the UK has it as well, I think not.

If you get a fine and don't pay it you have to be extra careful when going to that country again because I think they do keep it on record.
