How come it's ok to scream repost again?

I thought this was against the rules these days? Or was that only W T L W?

I think it should be again, it gets right on my ****.

I get really bored of people acting so smug and clever because there's a repost. Fair enough, there's a search function, but when you see something that's been reposted.. big ****ing whoop. It's not like it's a talent. You're not clever for pointing it out, you're just a nause.

haha i remember wtlw about 2 years ago now, how about 'fail' or 'epic win', it's just part of the internet where everyone is a cliche of themselves.

It's not the phrase that I find annoying, it's the smugness of those who do it... it really grates on me.

I just think it adds nothing to the forum, and is obnoxious. When people nicely point out a subject has already been posted, and even do something like add a link, that's completely reasonable, but when people just say

OOOOOOOOLD

Want some roasted peas?

reeeeeeeeeeeepost

It just makes me want to eat my own teeth. I think it was quite good when they banned being a **** about reposts, I think they should have kept it up!

I do agree with you there. Some people think that being cocky about it because someone hasn't seen a post that may have been made 3 days previously is a good thing, but not everyone checks the forums everyday. If people are polite about it, then that's fine. Sadly, someone's always going to be a cocky swine about it.

I know what you mean, think that the best way is oddly enough just to post the link of the thread and run. The repost/peroast/do you want peas with that comments and pictures are quite annoying.

Moaning is what some people do best. :)

A lot of things seem to get you wound up. May I suggest a break from the internet?

I think 'repost' does add something to the forum - it brings spammy threads swiftly to an end. If someone posts a link to something for the third time in the same week I'd prefer someone put 'repost', then a mod locks it and everyone gets back to whatever else they were doing than there be a third post with people posting 'roflcopter'

Whilst I agree that the whole repost thing is irritating and usually done by idiots wishing to do nothing but fluff their post counts, 99% of the time the issue can be avoided by using the search function and if the thread is to do with current affairs, by also flicking through the first 5 pages of the subforum.

It always makes me laugh, as you say they are so smug about it.

"OMFG pea roast  " or if you read between the lines "I'm so much better than you because I spend my whole life on the internet"

Posting "repost" in a thread is annoying and pointless, but so is seeing the same news story or the same minigame link for the umpteenth time.

No happy medium really.

It's kind of become one of the many in jokes and fads of OcUK, funny at first but it's now a bit old. Usually the people who accidently post the old item are less frequent users of the forum and I think there is a "laugh at the n00b" mentality which some of the hardcore members like to adopt.

I don't mind people pointing out that it's a repost and I think it's good that we are strict and encourage people to search first to keep it to a minimum. However there really is an elitist smugness with some people who get a bit over excited about pointing it out.

I imagine these people as the comic book store owner in the Simpsons.
