Hi,

First time to the motors forum of the website and was hoping to get some advice. I'm looking in to restoring a beach buggy or maybe a kit car. I would prefer to do the buggy, have seen a nice little number that needs restoring just down the road from me. It has the chassis, shell, engine and gearbox but all need work. I was an electrical and mechanical engineer in the army and know a fair few vehicle mechanics and welders etc so i'm hoping friends will help out and i will supply and pay for parts. Has anyone else done something like this before and what were your experiences?

Also i was planning to go to the kit car and car builiding show in exter this weekend, has anyone been before?

Thanks

I have been many many times to the kit car show at Westpoint.

I would say restoring a car over scratch building will be quite a bit easier.

Look at stands like Premier Wiring, they do a fantastic full wiring loom with lots of instructions.

There are many trade stands, many of whom are run by enthusiasts, who will happily talk to you about projects.

have a look around outside, there are usually a few buggies, see if you can chat to an owner of one.
