How come a broken mobile phone (i.e cracked screen etc) is not covered under a 12 month manufacturers warranty and requires 'additional' phone insurance for repairs to be carried out FOC

Surely as an electrical item (similar) this should come under the standard consumer rights and have a 12 months, return and repair service included?

Mobile Phones - what a con!

physical damage is never covered under warranty, put your foot through your tv screen and see how far your warranty gets you.

is there any way a cracked screen cannot be seen as 'physical' damage?

thanks for reply btw, appreciated :)

a lot of mobile phones these days have screens that are so easy to crack it is silly, something as small as having it in your pocked and brushing past a door can break them these days.

the only possible way would be if it was so fragile that it was "not fit for purpose" , you would have a hell of a job proving this though

If you crack your screen, just smash the rest of the phone up and say it got ran over. I know people who have done that.
