Employers and facebook etc..

Yep, Negative because they have blocked sites like Facebook at my workplace....Damn...I enjoy catching up with old friends :(

If you think about it, if they allow us to go on it, it will keep us at our desk, but cuz we dont have it, i tend to get slightly bored and go for a smoke lol...

I don't think facebook scrabble games will be lasting much longer on customers services as the manager gets back next week :(

my place of work has just banned facebook/myspace etc etc :(
I only used it because its a good and cheap way to stay intouch with old friends

Our company lets people check their sites and their personal email so long as they don't abuse that privilege and get their work done still. It’s made clear anyone found to be abusing it will have their access removed from the internet, were a smallish company (25 people) so it's not to hard to notice when someone starts to take the ****.

Saying that I’m in charge of allowing people to do things like that and I'm a nice guy who is easily bribed!

We need internet access at my work so everyone has access however i'd imagine the majority of employers would frown on employees posting/browsing social network sites when they should be working.

Like Rotty says common sense should prevail

my company does not block anything, we are just told to use common sense

I have a problemn with this :D

Whilst I was at lunch today, two girls saying their goodbyes. One says to the other "don't forget to update your face book and mention our lunch".

Why? Why is this so important? Who really cares? I don't get it. I really don't. A distance networking site which starts with face.. which is anything but.!!!

The only people I care about are those I keep in contact with face to face, by phone or meet up occasionally.

Probably more of a dim view of it. They don't provide the internet at the workplace so you can chat about how wasted you got last night/weekend. Additionally browsing through the hundreds of drunken photos is probably a real drain on bandwidth (although it's always really quick for me so they might be quite small!).

Not only that but it's bringing private life into the work place, where it doesn't really belong. There's a lot of scope for bitchiness on social sites and if the 2 mix, it can really affect the teamwork of a group in an office.
