The BMW 5 Series E39 was Executive Car of the Year when it was launched in 1996. It won it again in 1997. Then 1998. Then 1999. And 2000. And 2001. And 2002. Nothing else in its class comes close, let alone from the class below.

Totally agree.

I like to change my car every now and then, just because I like to, simply cannot find a car to replace it.

E-class - boaty, poor quality
S-class - made me cry.
A6 - Good but wishy washy driving (steering and handling)
3 series (e46) - already got one in the family, not comfortable at all.
GS430- wishy washy
LS 430 - Loved this, very smooth, however a BOAT (obviously)
I only need to try a 730d now.

I love the way the car is totally relaxed at any speed, drive it at 40mph or 140mph and it feels perfectly comfortable and drama free.
