Guessing he means stick to wholewheat pasta...which you should...it tastes far better!

Wholewheat pasta is great. More texture and flavour. White pasta is pasty and mushy.

Brown rice is lower GI. It's a better source of fibre. Cup of white rice has about 1g of fibre - brown has about 3.5g
You should avoid white things - bread, pasta, rice, sugar.
