Ok i just bought another 2GB of the same ram i currently have in. ( so i have 4x1gb sticks)

When i have the full 4gb in the mobo, the pc will not boot (it turns on with all fans etc) the monitor will not even turn on. When i take a stick out it will boot fine on 3gb, but as soon as i put the 4th in it wont do anything

please help!

p.s. im on latest bios i think!
cheers

Take all the others out and put the 4th one in on its own, if it doesn't work, it's probably buggered/doesn't like the other three/your motherboard. Should be able to get a replacement.

sorry i forgot to say ive tried each stick on its own in seperate slots

thanks for the swift reply

Have you checked the voltage levels in bios? I'm no expert, but I've seen other threads on here where putting the memory voltage up a notch has fixed it. Hopefully someone more wise in these ways will agree with me!

PK!

This :) Check the manufacturers recommended voltage, you may find you bios defaults to less and 4 gig of ram just isn't getting enough juice. For example, my board defaults to 1.8v, my ram needs 2.1v to boot with 4 sticks.

ok theres an even newer bios out, where can i get the updater program please for vista 64bit? cant seem to find it

thanks

I have the same motherboard and there seems to be a lot
of problems using 4 Gb with it. Some people have reported
success by lowering the ram speed from 800 Mhz down to
about 677 Mhz ( I think ).

There are a many results if you search google for "p5n32-e sli 4Gb"

I`m sorry I have n't really been much help to you, but I would warn against flashing the bios with the windows
software. I`ve updated mine using a flash drive and the bios utility.

I suspect that if I want to upgrade to 4 Gb then a new motherboard would be the easiest and most reliable way.

Good luck !

I'd set the voltage of the ram to 2.1. It's probably defaulting to 1.8v. Good luck!

don't update the BIOS in vista. the chances of messing it up are fairly high.
update using a flash drive and the motherboards built in bios flash utility.

i had stability problems with 4x 1GB sticks, which was rectified by increasing the northbride voltage.
