been following this game recently and it so far has had excellent reviews, over 450k signed up for beta, the screens look amazing and the weekly/monthly podcasts give a real insite to the game. The game is being made from the original makers of Dark Age Of Camelot if that is familiar to anyone which had a excellent PVP server, best to date.

Anyone here interested in this aswell?

This game is going to top PVPing to the next level in the mmo industry, Camelot was a legendary game and i agree it was and proberly still is the best rvr/pvp system around. Getting into Warhammer beta is tight still waiting, but its been delayed until 2nd quater of 2008 but imo its better that its finished off polished before we buy the game. This time Mythic has EA's money to make sure the game has everything needed to make it a success. I know a lot of people also waiting for this game and a lot of guilds in WoW will be making the move when its out, so all in all i reackon this game is going to be a big hit i just hope it brings the same adrenaline rush as daoc did back in the day :p

Was in the beta for a couple months before they closed the beta, waiting patiently for the beta to reopen in December. Has gone back to 2nd quarter of 2008 as Kuhan says, so bit longer of a wait before retail, was the sensible decision though.

I predict a massive disappointment. They've already had to put the release date back because they realised what they had wasn't good enough and EA won't wait forever. DAoC was a failure, it didn't even reach the pitiful SWG subscription levels.

Well i've enjoyed beta so far.

Daoc wasnt a failure, it turned a profit. Thats the only criteria for success that counts for a companys product. If you want to talk failures in the MMO world, then you refer to things like Horizons or AC2, but certainly not games like AC1, Daoc or CoH. They might not have massive subscription numbers but in business terms they are far from a failure. Take UO for example, never got past 200k subscriptions, yet a HUGE portion of veteran MMO players will tell you its the best MMO they ever played. (me included :) )

Obviously Warhammer wont be for everyone, much like any game really, but the screaming the sky is falling, we're all doooomed people are quite likely to not be so smug and righteous about it after release :)

Wasn't there a rumour recently that Warhammer Online was having serious behind-the-scenes problems and that it's very likely to be canned?

Could be wrong, I'm sure I remember someone saying something about it though.

Not that I've heard, but it wouldnt surprise me if someone somewhere was spreading rumours akin to that. EA did lay off some staff from various sub divisions, including some at Mythic, so wouldnt surprise me if someone took that and then took the Armstrong-like step to saying it was going to be cancelled.

Mind you, someone seems to say that exact thing at some stage of the development of just about every MMO I've ever seen :)

There was a few conflicts behind the scenes but it will not affect the game they said. and Dark Age of Camelot was a failure? i dont really how it was a failure, this game was legendary at the time of release the RvR/PVP system was just unbeatable, sure it had its problems like most games but you cant say DAoC was a failure cause it just wasnt.

I've heard some terrible stories from beta testers...I'm not holding my breath.

but it is just that a beta test, it's not final released code. You think things can be nasty in gaming try testing for big business where testing gets squeezed to the minimum possible, and then have to deal with the fallout when things barf when they go live.

They have 6 months to test it and find any major bugs or issues that would render the game unplayable, but then they don't have me working for them so maybe things will barf :D

Oh dear :(

Every fanboi of every game that's had a disastrous launch has said exactly the same thing :) They never fix any game-breaking issues reported during beta - maybe WAR will be different, but I doubt it  When will they learn?

I expect they prioritise them, so the lesser game breaking ones are the ones that make it through, are rare etc. It also depends on their test strategy as well.

Anyway i'm sure most of the beta testers don't report any of the bugs/defects they find, it's purely an excuse to play a game early and moan about how rubbish it is "cos x/y/z don't work", it's not like the have Mercury QualityCentre to report problems etc. Which means any fruitful testing is conducted by a pitifully small overworked test team with stupid deadlines.

I don't give a crap how big or small the test team is - all I know is if they release a shoddy game then I won't buy it. As it happens, I took part in the beta of DAoC - I told them again and again how overpowered scouts were when they could basically one-shot casters. Was this major, game-breaking issue fixed at launch? Was it hell. The simple fact is that most games companies totally ignore beta testers - the only reason they have beta tests is to test their networks, account admin, servers, patch deployment procedures etc. Most games companies are arrogant enough to think that they know a lot better than their customers.

Did the scout class actually stop the game running? No...ergo the game wasn't broken it required balancing, a rather different scenario. Balancing will come with time, especially with something as complex as a MMOG, show stopping killer bugs will (probably) be ironed out much more promptly.

You should try being a tester sometime, it's really not quite as simple as you might like to believe. I put it to you that you are probably the petulant arrogant one, and not the company.

Source? And just out of interest, have you beta-tested this game at all?

The Game wasnt delayed because they thought it wasnt good enough, It is delayed because they need more time perfecting things and like previous posters have said, the game design is made all they need to do is implement it and i would rather them take a few months more making it that bit better than releasing it early with loads of faults which gives people a reason to whine.

True that, i remember the rogue bug in warcraft, if you hit Vanish just as you hit someone then you will be brought out of stealth, was their from the start and is probably still their now.
