How can your argument (devoid of apparent substance) be taken seriously?
Sorry, but how can you be taken seriously? Your getting under my ******* skin.

you just can't help yourself, can you?![]()
I reciprocate (however with reference to the comment I referred to, which is being referred to, in the comment to which I refer now).
It wasn't an argument so much as an opinion. Sure school is tough on kids these days, but I don't believe it's so hard that they can't do an 8 hour job.How can your argument (devoid of apparent substance) be taken seriously?

When I was that age I did a pot-washing job in a restaurant (hotel). It was 8 hours on a saturday and paid £32.50. Not only did I not find it affected my college work, but I enjoyed it and met some of my current best friends there.
If I had a son I wouldn't expect him to get a job at 16 if he's doing A-levels. You do need to dedicate quite a lot of spare time to A-levels if you want to get decent grades and a job will only detract from that thus potentially lowering grades. That and he will have little/no spare time for fun...etc which might also be detrimental to his performance at college.
Argument occurs through opposing opinion.
I certainly would find it very hard to do an 8 hour job during my education (without impact on the aforementioned education).

You couldn't even split the work and do two 4 hour shifts? (which are pretty common in restaurants , and I'm sure many bars could accomodate too). I really don't see how that would mean you couldn't study at the same time. I mean it's not like we are talking degree's here...
Well obviously each case should be taken on it's own merit, but for the mostpart I stand by my opinion. If they're old enough to work, it's unlikely they would have a good reason not to.(There are other reasons for me not getting/being able to get, with ease a job, however I will not enter into that discussion at the present time).
