I recently spent quite a bit of money on a new PC on overlcokers as my other one was 2 years out of date

I tried to flash the mobo today with the asus auto update utlity that comes with there disc, only problem is it dont work

I load the utlity up as normal, click auto detect server, it picks a server then I click next, it says it requires an update so I say yes, and then it syas "unable to find the file on the remote server".

And thus I cannot flash my Mobo, I need to aswell so it can take full adv of my athlon x2 6400+

Anyone have any ideas? need help heh

TBH that Auto-Update thing has never ever worked for me, & I've owned quite a-few Asus mobos in my lifetime.

Best to just go to the mobos web page then download from there to your hard disk first.

Regarding flashing, I recommend you do it from DOS or Boot-Up (Ez-Flash or something). Damaged my mobo one time doing it from Windows. Check your manual on how to go about this.

I looked at those but it seems that none of them are vista compatible on the ASUS website

*** you perhaps provide a link to one that works for vista? I looked for quite a while and couldnt find any

Vista does'nt come into it.

ASUS EZ Flash 2

EZ Flash 2 is a user-friendly BIOS update utility. Simply launch this tool and update BIOS from a USB flash disk before entering the OS. You can update your BIOS only in a few clicks without preparing an additional floppy diskette or using an OS-based flash utility.

Does the support CD come with some programme that will create a bootable usb stick/floppy disk to flash the bios? Or are you saying it does, but it's not running under Vista?

Im pretty sure you can boot from the support CD, maybe that will let you create a Bios update disk?
