gaming at 1920 x 1200

i sold my GTX 10 days ago for 260 because it was starting to struggle @ 1920x1200 and i'll probably grab 2 GT's when they come back into stock for about £300 once the prices stabilizes to their true mark, which will be a pretty big jump over the GTX on most titles.

it wouldn't be a bad move for you but imo 250 is a little high, in a few weeks you'll be able to pick them up for less than 200 2nd hand.

I remember you saying that you wanted to stick with the intel chipset.

And Crossfire some 38xx series cards

Changed your mind? :p

it's changing like the wind easy :p

one day i'm up for xfire and the next it's sli, my mind says wait for the GT's but i'm impatient w.out a gpu right now and i've never done xfire before.

plus i'd really prefer x38 (and would like to try the maximus board) to a 680i also, but i know the GT's would kick the 3870's around the block :)

I told you that,

But you flamed me for it.:(

Why is no one waiting for 9800. Im waiting to win the lottery first sure but still surprised no one has mentioned it, is it far away still yet?

well if he can get the 8800gtx now for 250 why not, runs games better than the gt which most people cant get hold of,then when the gts comes out whats to say your not waiting just as long to get hold of one of them, and for old tech maybe but will still fetch more money than a gt on a certain auction site, that IMO though

Yes,

Thats why offering advice about getting a GTX is the wrong thing to do.

This is bad advice.

The new GTS is coming very soon killing the GTX off.

Maybe do some research before you post.

The OP nearly wasted 250 big ones on dying tech.

It ain't exactly dying tech. Just a die shrink with more shader and texture power.

I think I posted reviews to new 8800GTS's, 1 clearly stating it was still 90nm but with 112SP's instead of usual 96SP's and the other stating new 65nm tech. (cant remember was last week).

I told you that 8800 GT was the way to go initially.

I was right all along and now you agree with me.

yes in terms of pure performance i agree just like everyone else, and have so all along.

i was saying the 38xx's have some other features which make it competitve against the GT as a whole, which i still believe in also.

especially if you're buying 2 cards and even more so if you're putting them under water - the 38xx's have some undeniable advantages.

Well I decided not to buy the GTX in the end and boy am I glad I didnt. Been following some auctions on a certain site today and it seems the used GPU market is in free fall at the moment. These new cards from ATI and Nvidia have stirred everything up. Im gonna hold onto my cash, stick with my trusty X1900 and see what develops over the next few weeks before commiting to a card.

Good plan.:)

Gaming at 1920 x 1200 is a total pain especially in Crysis. My monitor doesn't scale too well to lower resolutions so everything has to be played at that res or it looks rubbish.
