9 of us met up today for some green laning. It was superb, We met up at 10am set off around 10.30am & didn't roll back into Hinckley until 3.30pm
I got stuck twice going to slow through some big trenches but was soon snatched out.
Here are the pics from my phone with more to follow when my mate drops his camera & lead off to me.

Hinckley Firm.

Zebs 110 Stuck

More to follow.
A great day was had with me Grinning like a 12 year old boy most of the time & ending up with Jaw ache. We all made it back ok but i have pretty much bunrt my clutch out. Mick hit Ed up the rear as well in a moment of madness so Ed comes back with some damage.

We met up at the marina then went through Upton & then God only knows. I did see a sign when we crossed into Staffordshire. A big circle of bridle ways & green lanes. Out of the 5 hours I'd say we were off road for around 3 & a half of it.

Awesome! When Trinity-Motors (my uncles M.D) had an off-road course that was fun when he took me round. However, the Marina ate that up so would love to go green laning round that area sometime!

good stuff. i've been out on the mountain bike via upton and stuff years ago. had a feeling you must have gone that way.

Funky, what do you drive malc30?
I've had my 300tdi discovery for about 6 months, not got it muddy much apart from extracting a car from the mud at barrow on soar camp-site after all of the heavy rains and flooding a few months back. You wouldn't have known there was a car being pulled at all; I'd forgotten how capable and easy land rovers/range rovers are to drive. :)

oooh, snobbery! lol :D
Defenders are fine, but not my cup of tea.
Anyways, it's not rusty...

not yet, honest :p

Funky SJ.
When I lived in the middle east, some local boys entered one into the bahraini stage of the gulf states rally, they did rather well as I recall. Have the advantage of being very light too.

Damage Report.

Clutch is *******. Exhaust is *******. Misfiring to *******.

I did attempt to do the exhaust from the floor as there is plenty of room but i bottled it. I ended up taking it down my mates Tyre & Exhaust place & using his ramp/air & tools  It took me around 20 minutes to replace the front section & went on lovely & even sealed first time on. The replacement that came off my other SJ is better than the one i wrecked so alls good there.

Misfiring has sorted itself out over night so i just plan on stripping it out & rebuilding it with untold sealant spray.
Clutch is a major mission as i have to take the clutch out of my other one first. I had planned on ripping the Transfer box & gearbox & engine out anyways so it's no bother. Just means i have to do it sooner rather than later. So this weeks mission will be ripping the transfer box/gearbox & engine out of the old then dropping my box off mine & fitting the other clutch.
Cost will be nowt apart from freezing my butt off, laying in crap & knocking the crap out of my knuckles shoulders & head.
That'll do me

I'll add that Anyone with a vehicle is more than welcome to join us on an Outing.
Normal off road rules apply as in Tow points Front & Back etc.

I planned on having a decent MSN chat with you before hand mate whenever you have the time ;)

I spent around 3 hours stripping the Gearbox & clutch out the old one this morning. The scrapper is to far away from the compressor to use air & it's on some real big loose stones. So it was hand tools & crawling over stones out in the open air. Job went well with only one snag where a nut at the back near the gear stick locator was catching the body. Once i spotted that it virtually dropped out. The clutch plate looks good with plenty of life left in it so i am pretty damn well pleased with myself.
It's been a long time since I've got stuck into a job like this & i am please i still have the kahoonas to do it.
Tomorrow i have my mates drive & his compressor & air tools. I plan on a head down approach first thing with me not stopping till it's done
Roll on Sunday & more Off Roading

I Failed.
Didn't get it finished off today. I started it & got the clutch fitted but then the gearbox just wouldn't slide on nicely. I messed about for a bit but really need someone to push the back of the lump down so it will slide on how i want it to.With someone else pushing the back of the lump down it will go in how i want. I am not in to bullying them in & messing the clutch or the spline up. A mate is meeting me down the yard in the morning & I'll finish it off then. To be quite ****** honest i gave up far to early as a phone call off a mate called me away & my intention to go back to finish off just never happened.
I am feeling my age though as i would have never stopped until i had finished it years ago & my shoulders are aching like ****. I could have quite easily used a jack & a block of wood to move the lump into the angle i wanted but my nice warm front room was calling me & a nap was needed in my armchair :o
I am old.

Success
Finished it off this morning & the Clutch is Lovely. Am pretty damn pleased with myself & am ready for Sundays outing.
