Been looking at some of the lower end apple laptops lately as I quite like the fact you can make music and edit photos straight out of the box. Is it worth getting say a £629 mac book or is it worth saving a lot more for a mac book pro?

Okay its getting abit more complicated now as my mother is now eyeing up the new inbuilt 20 inch screen macs and im waiting for my tax rebate which will ultimately choose which system I pick.
Few questions though:
If I buy a tiger OS mac now can I upgrade to the leppard X OS when I register on the website like a few of the higher end machines or is it certain models only?
Do each and every mac have music editing software and image manipulation software built into them or are they part of "I Life 08"?
Is the battery life in the mac books and mac book pros as good as people claim compared to equal priced vista laptops?
Would there be any issues with the wireless as I have a belkin N modem router?

my macbook battery life is about 5 hours with just surfing, using parallels and surfing is about 3 hours.
All models between a certain date period.
Yeah iPhoto and Garageband iirc
About the same as other laptops 2-3 hours, the Pro's might have better though.
Nope wouldn't think so, nothing software/firmware updates can't solve though.

Last request is are there any good websites where me and my parents can read up on the transition between using PC's and going towards Macs at all? My mum is abit worried she wont be able to do her excel spreadsheets on one etc

I work for a certain orange shirted company and I've just reserved one to pick up 2moro for the online price then do some DBD (del boy discount) on it to knock it from £829 to about £660 
Gonna grab an external harddrive whilst im there to add onto my network to give me abit more filespace when I need it. Also ringing apple from work when im in 2moro and finding out if im entitled to leopard update for nowt or not.

I would do that. Not to incite any war, but I bought a Macbook with genuine interest, but for me it is nothing compared to a PC Laptop. The keyboard, the heat....
You can get far better spec for far less.
