Hi all,

Well i sent my faulty XFX 8800 Ultra XXX back and they gave me a refund as there are no more of these cards. The EVGA 8800Ultra is not back in until 10th Dec and they only have the Black Pearl in so i dont know if i should buy another 8800 or wait for the next gen cards. Any idea when the next gen are out?

Well the only card i can find in stock where i get my cards is the 8800Ultra black pearl but i already have a Danger Den 8800 waterblock. Does anyone know if my Tygon 1/2" tubing will fit the black pearl?

Thanks billsterno1,

I might just order the BP one as now its cheaper than what i paid for the XFX 8800 3 months ago.

Just ordered the EVGA 8800 Black Pearl for €685, and it should be here at the latest friday.

Bah all this talk about a GTS. You really think that come 3rd Dec there are going to be hundreds of these new cards in stock everywhere? Especially considering virtually nobody has any real details of them, not even an engineering test sample?! Look at the ATi 3800 launch, even before it, benchmarks were coming out, Gibbo had a couple and despite the NDA was still able to offer some pre-sales benchmarks.

Now I don't know what it was like for the 8800GT launch as I was in Iraq at the time but I really fail to believe that this card will be shipping in 14 days (or indeed at all this year - at least in any numbers) given the lack of anything official being heard as of yet.

Ok so spending €685 on an Ultra at the mo does seem a touch excessive when a card at a third of that price will do not much under it. But then if you want the absolute best and you have the cash, why the hell not? As of today (and indeed until they release either a new GTX or the 9800 series), that Ultra is still looking like it's going to be the best card money can buy.

Well 2 8800GT's is roughly 50% faster than a 8800GTX, as for the motherboards being crap I'm sure they won't degrade gaming performance much.

I feel that Nforce mobo's are pretty rubbish compared to Intels, I wish NV would let Intel make SLi mobo's imagine that :)

Changed days when Intel Mobos were crap and had locked bioses so you could not tweak and NForce were King.

Since my 650I mobo I'm abit put off Nforce, my Nforce3 250gb mobo and Nforce 4 mobo's with SKT939 were however excellent! very stable, very overclockable, not look at em, 680I from NV memory controller dies over 2.3V.
