Lovely Wolver-ampton!
Been running vista 32 on my rig at home and didn't even consider the 64 bit version. but then i thought, i dont even use any 64bit apps or progs.

32 seems perfectly fine for me, but am i missing somehthing by not running 64 bit?

is there a patch that changes the 32bit to 64bit or would i have to buy a whole new OS dvd??

You can't patch it so a reinstall would be necessary.

Unless you wish to run 64-bit aware apps, the impact of changing would be less than impressive.

Stick with what you have until you need to switch.

Go with 64bit, depending what version of vista you have, you either pay £7 to Microsoft and they send you a new dvd or your dvd already contains 32bit and 64 bit.

Windows it's self will run slightly faster, you'll be able to upgrade to 4GB of ram. Also you'll be ready for when 64 bit apps become the normal. Companies are already starting to release 64bit versions. anther year or so and I recon most common apps will have 64bit versions.

You might as well take the plunge and be ready for the future and use the power of your cpu. Drivers are not a problem.

The disc I have is Vista Home Premium OEM bought when I upgraded my machine.

So, does this have the 64bit version on? Or do I need some kind of unlock key from MS? bit puzzled.

It's only got 64-bit on it if it says so.

I've got OEM 64-bit Home Premium Vista and it's a seperate from the 32-bit version; they are two different products.

Two different products covered under the same licence. Check the sticky for details on how to get the x64 media ;)
