Your next car?

What and risk the chance of it getting dirty, the most off road it will get is erm erm, well it wont be going off road nor will it be pulling a trailor, its to make my wife look good and get to work in and go to the shops in and and and...................

So your looking at a focus then? ;):p

Buy a Land Rover Discovery! I've got one (a Series 2 ES)- they are unbelievably versatile. Tows the horse box, took a 3-seater sofa in the back with the seats down, takes 7 of us to the pub at lunchtime.. :D

It would also go 'off-road' if I wanted it to. Not the quickest machines in the world though, or the most economical either!!

yours is a tool i want one for a toy.

Sounds like you want a Shppoing trolly and a thing for the dogs and Wife TBH.
Not really toy.

If you use a 4X4 for what its ment to be used for then its a toy:cool:

I strive to go up the ladder not down, :p

the new one series coupe is just a baby E92, being 6'2" and quite large i dont want to go any smaller than what im in now.

The new Audi wagon/estate that they are bringing out with stupid horse power?:D

I don't like X5's. Ignoring the offroad business they don't do anything better than the equivilent 5 Series Touring, cost more, handle appreciably worse, are more unwieldy at speed and are generally just a stereotypical 'property developers' family car. Or the ideal car for people who describe their job as 'In security innit' :(

That the most commonly cited reason for X5 purchase is 'It's got presence' really sums up the sort of person that buys it. It's the worst of all worlds - its a BMW, never good for nice guy image, and its an SUV.

Arghghgh.

Buy a 545i Sport Touring or something. Faster, cheaper, better and you will look like less of a tool.

The next car we buy will have a high MPG, cheap car tax and be another ideal runabout, perfect complement to the S3

Quite fancy trading the M3 in against either :

- New M3
- 997 911 C4 or a 996 Turbo
- AMG SL55
- Maserati 3200 or 4200

... after todays fun and games nearly wrecking my car, i might seriously start looking into something a little less prone to tail out action.

No RS4 on the list?

The Metro was starting to get too rusty, and my friend had offered me first refusal on her Corsa, so my next car is a 1997 Corsa merit 1.2, just what I need - basic, cheap, reliable, efficient, low mileage, decent service history, known history.

Just a shame it's red so faded in places!

How is an M3 anywhere in that list compared to the other options :)

Fairly large change I shall be joining the hairdressers club with a mk1 mx-5 :D

Had a play with one at drift academy at silverstone. Sure they'd had some work done to the rear wheels to get 'em to slide easier, but engine was stock, as was interior and everything else. Loved it, and despite constant first gear ragging, they never skipped a beat.

As soon as i sat in it, first thing I thought was 'ok, I no longer care what anyone thinks I look like driving it'. I can drift in it, drive it around town, have fun in the summer and it won't blow up like many of the other cheap drift cars in the price range I'm looking at.

Just waiting for a little more NCB and it's mine :D
