Those quad Xfire card setups maybe? I should imagine they will kick out some power! IIRC don’t power supplies use the power needed ie run at 500W not the full 1500W etc??

Its just an ego and advertising thing. Same as the top end processors and graphics cards. all companies have to show a flag ship model. on the other hand there will allways be some sap out there that will buy it.

Same for anything in that megawatt range too (0.15MW). People assume because they have the top end system, that they need the most powerful PSU.

true if you have a 1000W PSU but your system only requires 450W that is all the PSU will draw from the socket

Thermaltake are very unreliable. I have just sent 1000w Toughpower back it lasted 3 mins and cost me £20.00 to get it back. Search the net it is pot luck if you can get one that will last a year. Lots are DOA and a lot fail within a couple of months.
