The Witcher-Official Thread

ok the case im thinking about is intriguing me a great deal: think ill post about it on the main witcher forums after work.... (its hidden depths to the dialogue tree with npc maybe but i could be imagining it)

yep im aware of that. Atm im experimenting with a change in the ini file for the text dialogue. Changing =short to =Long (i think im not at home to check)

This other thing which im talking about re: this particular minor npc is weird and possibly a very good thing. Should i say who it is as its kinda a spoiler if you havent got middle act 2

*****SPOILER*****

highlight: gossip! :D

Hey Viper if you didn't work it out here is answer you were looking for

*Spoiler*

Kill the majority of critters in the room with the supports or enough to clear a path to the corridor on your right as you enter that cavern, then simply blast one of the wooden pillars/supports with your Aard sign (the knock down magic line)

Be careful you don't get stuck in the room its a bit buggy, try and blast a support as you run out to that corridor

Yep thats the one Viper :D but the conversation is weird **SPOILER highlight***because you have to keep trying the same lines on her. Sometimes you get nowhere (tested the different dialogue lines myself) and sometimes she give you the opening where you can give her the appropriate gift hehe

Yeah, i figured it out, felt a bit of a fool tbh, especially as Geralt actually says what needs to be done...

Few hours into chapter 4 now, and really loving the alchemy part of this game, just keep inventing stuff :D Most of the time it ends up having negative effects, but i do find the odd usefull one.

Mainly just go around trying to find out who i can sleep with really  ;) :D

I've FINALLY got onto act 4 just, just did the part you have. Only about 15minutes into act 4 and LOVING it.

I haven't messed around with different potions tho, i just make swallows and blizzards, thats all ive needed really ;)

Did you manage to bed shani ? ;) :p

Just bought the game today, patched it, got the vista patch and it's still crash city if I fiddle about in the menu's too much.

I'm currently exploring a village, which is being attacked by The Beast, which I have yet to face as I'm still getting to grips with things. It's horribly addictive though!

With Mass Effect arriving at the end of the week, I might have to pull a sicky :o

This is your boss here! I have made a note in your records of the above comment. I will expect you in at work bright and early all next week :p

Loving this game so far! Haven't read any of the negative views but can't imagine what the concerns are!

OK loading times are a little long - thats about it.

I'm loving the overall atmosphere in the game, and am very impressed with the presentation and music / sound - its definately one to turn the volume up for!

Not that far in yet - about to take on "The Beast" tonight - which should be fun from what I've read in here. Hope it keeps on improving! :D

The load times are pretty quick here too. No where near a minute, although I have just started playing...

The atmosphere in the game is extremely good. In Obilivion I wasn't scared to venture out at night. In Witcher I am! I went out last night exploring and found a dog...got close and a benny hill style hound of the baskervilles chase ensued until I killed it.

Right now I've been given a quest by the reverend to light up 5 shrines and night and I'm bricking it, so that is tonights task anyway. So far from first impressions the game is very enjoyable. Stability wise, it's pretty poor imo, and I don't like the fact that your character is limited by certain boundaries he cannot cross.

Kainzy's next female conquest - Abigail, that hot witch! :o :D

Yes it really is a great game.

I had not heard anything about it until i read this thread a short while ago and decided to purchase it hoping for the best and wow was i pleasantly surprised.

It is a very good game with a good story and the NPC's are also excellent as is all the voice acting. Ok there are some small niggles regarding combat/camera views and loading times but it takes nothing away from this game.

I have not got far yet, just started Act II but i have been so busy lately i don't have time to play it but i always want to :(

after 1st battle the man says how do you feal and then the game does not freezes but the dialog does i think and i installed 1.1 a patch whats the deal anyone getting this and i donk know if i continue the game pressing all the buttons

This is really a Quality game, i expect this to last me for a month or two as most rpg games, havnt played one in ages, combat system is really fantastic but i think the ui is flawed slightly.

Overall though this is great, just finished the part where

***SPOILER***

Leo Dies, onto the city and have just spoken to the revered, really want to do some fighting now :D

Am nearly at end of chapter 2 now and its brill. The fighting is getting better now I have a few more moves. I particurly like fight the slug like creatures that explode with acid after you kill them. I cast the telekenises sign (the first one you get). I have upgraded this to have stun affect. The slug thingy is stunned and you can kill him with one hit then double tap "s" to backflip out of the way. The slug explodes with the acid killing all the drowners that are also in the fight. Very satisfting indeed :)
