Since i can't run Crysis not even near on max in MP with my System and get smooth frames with 2900XT, i was wondering when there will be more powerful cards available? They just keep releasing all this cheapest versions of 8800 like GT and same with Ati 3870 series or what so ever! I mean ftf we need some better Hardware out there !
About G92 which suppose to be released third of December if i am not wrong, will that run much better, or what's happening with Ati are they shooting with something better soon?

peace

From what has been said in a couple of other Crysis threads, it has been designed to run at full settings in a year or 2, not with current hardware, much the same as Farcry was.

Slightly OT

I think it's a poor show by Crytek really. Why release a game now if the current harware can't handle it? Come to think of it, Far Cry has been out for some time now and most gaming PC's struggle with that at ultra high settings.

This is where consoles are good, it almost like the dev are told 'there is the hardware, now develop a game that runs well on that cos that's all you've got' and some how they seem to manage it.

For me I cba with Crysis, there are plenty of other games out there that look good on current hardware.

because they are showing off cry engine 2 with crysis, whats capable now and in the future kinda thing
the graphics scale back well anyway, it still looks good even at low!

dont take this the wrong way, but its only the people who havent been gaming for very long who say things like this.

every major 3d engine release since the dawn of 3d engines were designed to scale like this. quake, quake 3, doom 3, the UT engine, farcry, f.e.a.r, crysis....every one of them. Crysis is no different and if people really expected it to be well then....you're expecting too much.

Nothing to do with scaling, the game is not running as the CEO said it would.

There is enough interviews on the web and posted here to read all info over a period of 1 year to see the games got issues.

Throwing hardware at it is not the answer, and the Game is not made now to scale in future as it is now, it will scale 1.5years with Patches when needed, it is meant to run now on our hardware.

Also the CEO said performance patches will start to appear in 14days approx (from the date of last interview), plus Nvidia said each new driver helps.

Cevat Yeril obv has told us a lot of BS about the game and specs needed as nobody can run it like he said on any hardare today.

No it doesn't.

I can barely run above 30 fps average on a 1950pro on a mixture of medium/low, any lower it looks horrid. @ 1440x900.

So cba with the game as there are games that still look good and run pretty well.

Dunno about anyone else, but I can run crysis on medium/low with 30FPS average on my X1650 Pro, which to me is bloomin' amazing. 1024x768, though.

I've gamed on my PC since the original C&C days so not too long, but I have played actively in ED for a good few years, CS's, BF's and now COD4 to name but a few so you couldn't be more wrong with me being new to gaming, I feel qualified to comment of FPS in single and multiplayer modes.

Whilst this is an OC'ing forum, most of the members have either top end systems or systems clocked to high end, this is not a overall reflection of the gaming community. Look at the recent steam polls to what specs people game on. Now if people here are struggling to run the game on medium to high settings you can be sure the majority of the gaming community don't stand a chance.

Is it too much to expect PC game devs to code a game as well as console devs do?

As far as waiting for a year or so when there will be new harware out, there will be new games out then. A bit like when people said the 6800u was better than the X800XTPE cos is had SM2. How many people too advantage of SM2 on the ultra? by the time games used it the 7800's were out and so it goes on. Buy now to use now, because there will be something new tomorrow.

ok. so why then havent you noticed this trend before? didn't you see doom 3 and farcry bringing everything to its knees?

i believe that is a seperate issue. peopele with lower or mid-end systems would use those settings. i know that the game isnt performing where it should be, but that doesnt change the fact that it is supposed to scale on todays hardware and for hardware thats going to be along in the next year or two. these patches are only going to bring the performance up to were it should be. i wouldnt expect miracles lol

the x800's had sm2 as well. it was sm3.0they didnt have, but that didnt matter because there was nothing worth mentioning out that take advantage of sm3.0. besides, the x850's and such were virtually neck and neck with the 6800ultras

Why are people so botherd about running a game on max details. Just latley it seems if people cant put gaming details on very very ultra super duper high with uber graphics then the games rubish. Why do you have to have a game at super high graphical details to play it? Whats happend to gameplay and funfacter? Or is it all about the graphics in the game now days?

I can play crysis on my £50 graphics card, whats the problem ?

Its a about having everything that the game as to offer & cutting back on the gfx is cutting back some part of the game.
Maxed out sound/gfx/MaximumFun
And then your not missing out on anything that the coders put in.

My bad meant SM3...

Not played Doom3, but Far Cry I thought was good, but again too high end at the time of release. Even now I can't have all the fruit on, never mind back then, so the likes of me and 1000's of others played games like CSS which still has a healthy amount people playing in clans and leagues. How many people still play Far Cry multiplayer?

Today it's Crysis. So yes I do see a trend again...in COD4.

The higher end you go the less people there are, I suppose that's my point. For PC gaming that's not a good thing, as we've have already seen consoles take a chunk of PC gamers away. This I think is due to people being able to play the new games without them having to upgarde or suffer slideshow FPS.
