I'm 23 and got my insurance up in a week or two.

I have a 1998, five door, 1.8 diesel LX Ford Fiesta. Hardly 'Boy-Racer'. I have one NCB, and I work in an Admin job for a vehicle recovery company.

I paid £618 last year with Budget, but now finding quotes that are so high. I was quoted by budget in the renewal letter for around £700 and similar figures for everyone else. I've tried Zurich and to my shock I've found them to be the cheapest at around £453. Just trying to find others that can get it cheaper.

But insurance is just mad. Seems so much money.

£453 sounds pretty good to me for a young male with 1NCB?

One in the Manchester area. Doubt we've spoken as I have a stutter and avoid the phones like the plague.

Yeah, suppose £453 is not bad. I was just hoping to get it around the £400 area.

I'd never pay more than £700 for insurance. Seems to be rising each year with most companies.

We dont have Greater Manchester on the scheme (yet..)

Make sure you do all the tricks, and give yourself a fake girlfriend if you haven't got one already.

I consistently find RAC to be the cheapest - but they seem pricier than I remember.

Just to boast, my best insurance deal was £400 for a 3.2 Jaguar XJ6 at 21 with 2 years NCB, a 20 year old gf and 3 19-23 year old mates one of which had only just passed his test! :D That was a year and a half ago though.

sure that wasnt 4000 pounds :p?

Just renewed yesterday £253 fully comp protected no claims with guaranteed hire car for me and the missus on a 2006 A3 20TDI Sline insured for market value of 20K. This is with one fault claim in 2005 when I was hit by a half brick thrown up by a truck wheel on the motorway (I'm 37 by the way).

Not posting this to annoy you just to say that it does get better, statistically you are a greater risk so they hammer you which I know is not fair. There are more "rusty" experienced drivers out there which is just as dangerous in my opinion.

Stick with it, by the time you can afford to insure something nice you will be too old to enjoy it ;-)
