A short while ago I go a new card, an ATI Radeon HP2600pro 512mb memory.Could get it to go properly, couldn't get right resolution, tried it in my son's new rig & came up "out of range". Striped mine apart put in different M/B & came up with same result. Sent it back & they tested it & said it's working ok & returned it to me at a cost of £10. I feel I'm being ripped off because they wont change it & I can't get it to work. Am I doing something wrong or what? never had any trouble before.

Which power supply do you have and are you sure it doesn't require you to plug a power lead in to it ? not sure on the 2600 pro but a lot of pci-express cards require the pci express power connector aswell. And does it have 2x DVI out's ? looking at what you say it boots up but you can't set resolution ? maybe you are using the wrong dvi output ? o

If the monitors saying out of range..It's normally something to do with refresh rates etc...Or even something like a faulty monitor cable maybe, but that's doubtful.

Don't suppose you tried the other monitor on your rig?

Try both dvi outputs and then try a vga adapter should have one with the card ? maybe some combinations only work on the VGA cable and not dvi properly just a thought.

out of range sounds like you are trying to use the monitor on a resolution or refresh rate beyond what it is capable of.

+1

You could try safe mode and then put the HZ to 60hz and the res to 800x600.

Right. Spent most of the day playing with it.On my son's computer with digital monitor all I can get is out of range, even after going in safe mode & downloading drivers. On mine it sets itself at 800X600. I have downloaded latest drivers & the best I can get is1280X768 & can't get 1280X1024 which I was running at with my old X800, but when you turn it off it defaults to 800X600. Power supply is an Enermax 620W modular, & no secondary power supply is needed, & have tried both outputs, vga with connector, Digi to vga cable all with same result.

Have you downloaded and used drivercleaner to strip out the old drivers and ensure there isn't an old setting causing a conflict?

My mate had this with an nvidia card. Turned out it was a control panel setting in his nvidia panel. As others have suggested use driver cleaner. Then install new drivers.

Cracked it! Uninstalled monitor & graphics card drivers, reinstalled them (using same CDs) & it works. Thanks for all your suggestions
