Mario Galaxy - Official Thread

Im really loving Mario Galaxy. I'm getting Deja Vu from last year playing Zelda. I love Ninty games, there so fresh and original. After being disappointed by so many games this year, namely Bioshock. Im extremely happy that this wasn't a disappointment.

I would help it to get to first place, if I had a console to play on it. I wont keep posting about the fact that I cant find any for sale until I have one in my hands :p:(

You lot going on about it is rubbing salt in to the wound!

There was one in members market? Is it still there?

I didn't find that MP3 offered anything new other than the controls, which were great. The original MP is still the better game by some margin. Mario Galaxy, on the other hand, has featured things i've never seen in a video game before. It's just an explosion of creativity.

I love mario galaxy, it's just not a graphically endowed game :)

Delivery is out of question as it will cost a bomb and i don't really have the time.

Unfortunatly!

Hopefully I will find one before chistmas, if only to play a major Nintendo game again on christmas day! Wouldnt be the same otherwise..... I still vividly remember playing Zelda OOT in 1998 like it was yersterday!

Have you seriously been trying to buy one since release last year? i can understand them running low on stock if you have only tried to buy one in the run up to christmas but they cant have been sold out for an entire year can they?

As for Mario Galaxy i am currently 52 stars in, trying to take it slow... only 8 hours over the weekend and a couple yesterday :)

Will definitely be playing it through to 120 as so far it has been almost perfect, definitely worth the 10/10 :) (although this is rounded up from about a 9.8 that i think it deserves)

Mario sunshine was a good game, but i see how some people felt it lost some of the mario spark, this game is the best mario game ever though, it has the exploration of m64, the fun of mario 3, the graphics to rival any other game.... what people dont seem to realise graphics is not just pure poly counts... like zelda tp this game has amazing graphics, while they may not have the raw power of crysis they make up for that by being exactly what the game needs. In zelda it was due to the highly "stylised" graphics but in galaxy's its due to everything being big, bright and colourful. Yet it can still be impressive, hair (or fur really) seems to be something they have done very well

anyway im rambling now, and am having serious mario withdrawal... damn this thread

Buying one online and getting it shipped from the continent seems to be the way to go if you're looking at getting hold of one before Xmas.

My brother played round at a mates house, I can't give his actual opinions due to the swear filter, but he liked it. :p
He's not generally a fan of platform games, infact I don't think I've ever seen him play a Mario game.

Aye, it blows Kameo away ;)

Kameo looked pretty, but the levels were dull and not one has made me gasp like many have in Galaxy. I love the twisty, rotating stone path in the sky with thwomps on it.

can't agree about the dullness of Kameo and i have found nothing so far in Galaxy that makes me look twice, the way that Kameo did.

the ease of Galaxy lets it down time and again. although i have now reached the Bee level, it is a game i've now gave up on. the thing that spoils it for me is just how easy it is and because of this, it is boring to play IMHO.

the bee level is like the... 3rd level? THis game gets pretty damn difficult towards the end. The level where matter drops out of existance randomly is damn hard.

I've got 43 stars ( so about 1/3 way through ? ) and can see it is getting very difficult now....

It doesn't increase in difficulty, well at least not up to 97 stars.

But it does get much better around the 20-30 star mark. Up to the bee level I thought it was pretty good, but not amazing. Once a few galaxies open up it gets seriously good.

Sorry, I think this is a bit misleading.

Yes it does increase in difficulty, noticably from around the 60 to 70 mark.

Whether a seasoned games player would find it difficult is another matter though, but you can't compare the ease of the early levels with the bonkers stuff going on when you pass the half way point.

IMO :)
