Any Panasonic AE-2000E projection owners?

Mmmmmm, Maybe.....

Be about a week before the AE-2000 arrives, im expecting a BIG step up in performance.

So you've ordered one, that's very cool!
I'm definitely looking forward to your comments, and it's well up my hit list of things to consider.

Ive been happy with the AX100 its very capable, just hope the upgrade is founded as its a lot of money to splash out on a hyped product but still a 2 grand gamble.

Appreciate any reviews or links guys but heres hoping to 80 inches of 1080p delight.
I read it handles 1080/24 @ 96hz and truecolour. With 16000:1 contrast,16 bit video processing its got to look awesome even in daylight.

Keep you posted

I'd love to see this running side-by-side against some of the 3-chip DLPs for comparison. I need to upgrade to a 1080p projector at some point in the future. :o

Been checking out several forums and its hard to believe but this Panny is being mentioned as winning hands down compared to last years Sony Pearl VW50.

Also their new Black Pearl VW 60 is not as good as the AE2000E in some regards judging by one review in particular. Interestingly the panasonic is several hundred to £1500 less than models offering similar performance.

The likes of the JVC which does beat the AE2000 in many ways yet it seems the AE2000E is the price/performance winner in the 1080p current ranges doing the rounds.
Owners on AVS state the smoothscreen technology on this model doesnt effect detail like before and the pj is totally absent of vertical banding and indeed screendoor effect.
Its downside tends to be with its internal scaler with SD material in some cases causing a bit of grain so some prefer to upscale their DVDs direct from their PS3 etc.
Colours though are said to be impeccible and the panel uses a 10ms grey - grey so will be fine with gaming or fast motion.

Im considering doing a review on this, shortly after it arrives.
Id like it to benifit a lot of people with different queries on the whole 720p or 1080p matter.

Personally for me it will highlight two areas of interest.
1080p Gaming & 1080p Movies

I will pit the Panasonic AE2000 (1080p) against the Panasonic AX100 (720p)
Projectors will be doing 1:1 testing. This will help determine is a £2000 projector really much better than Panasonics £900 one for a casual but quality consceous average buyer.
How good is the quality on these now compared to a LCD or Plasma TV?

Tests involved:
Game comparisons & Movie comparisons
Is 1080p much better, how, in what way exactly and at what size/distance does it become more noticable?
Testing will be done at projected sizes from 40"-80" screen @ 7ft-9ft viewing distances. This will represent an idea for a lot of peoples home setups.

Equipment:
PS3 & X360 (both via hdmi) ready with some recent games
Diehard 4.0 and Cars just arrived on Blu Ray (yippee)

I know "Home Cinema" forums here gets a lot less traffic than it used to and their might not be many responses but well i feel more at home (lol) posting on OcUK.
Any ideas for games and movies to test as this will be "the usual photo heavy pictorial" i normaly prefer to do. Might also try and get a few ideas/comments from the "Gaming" forums.

Expect a meaty report next week...

When showing off projectors, people tend to either use CGI films, or a shot of actors' faces close-up live action films because this makes them look better. In my experience, wide angle shots of landscapes tend to show up issues with pixellation and colour issues. The Lord of the Rings trilogy has quite a few good shots of landscapes, and it would be cool if you could take shots from there.

I regulary visit AV Forums and im aware of certain popular shots, i will try were possible to do the same. One of the biggest concerns with projectors is the shadow detail and the quality of the blacks.

As for pixellation, screen door effect that LCD usually suffers from aparently this model doesnt have any of the common problems including the dreaded vertical banding. Colours are also meant to be almost perfect on "Cinema 1" mode as its been specifically calibrated. Regarding blacks im not as fussy on that as tbh many LCD Tvs still dont generate true blacks and thats what im used to viewing a lot.

Av Forums has a lot of threads and a preview of the model.
