Has anyone saw this?

I only discovered its existence today. Am going to watch this evening.

Just wondered what people here thought of the film.

wicked film, was on tv last saturday, very good portrayal of the end of hitler from their point of view.. almost refreshing to see a WW2 film without any allies!

Very good film indeed. I'd also like to point out the film 'Conspiracy' too, if you haven't seen it and thought 'Downfall' was good then try and grab it. You'll be shocked!

I'm in agreement with everyone else here, The Downfall (Der Untergang) is a great film. I'm not the biggest fan of war related films but this one is great.

If you liked that film, look at a few other German language films that have been coming out recently: The Lives of Others (Das Leben der Anderen) and The Counterfeiters (Die Fälscher). Both kinda similar in their style.

Anyone got any other recommendations?

I'm lucky that I manage to get most of these films in the Cineworld Cinema in Glasgow, its quite good for showing international movies.

Agree that downfall is a great film and the lives of others is excellent too can also reccomend black book aka zwart boek will look out for the counterfeiters :)

hawt!

The Downfall is brilliant, I watched it a few years ago when it was first released - just randomly stumbled on it. One of my favourite films, the atmosphere is amazing and the feeling of total desperation as the Reich crumbles is fantastic. Bruno Ganz did a brilliant job playing Hitler. Loved every minute of it :D

Also The Lives of Others is another cracking film and definitely worth a watch. It isn't as riveting as The Downfall, and many say it does feel like it drags on (I don't think that personally) but the ending and the way the whole operation unfolds was amazing - really powerful stuff.

German cinema 4tw? Anyone got any other quality German films they can recommend?
