o right, I dont actually have a ps3, I just pieced together my experience of the 360 and the info my mate gave me about his ps3.
The 360 outputs in the resolution you tell it too, I thought it would be the same for the ps3.
Well my PS3 seems to output the resolution that's available to it.
IE, tell it you can run 576p/720p/1080i/1080p, when it comes across a 720p game, it runs at 720p, if it comes across a 1080p it runs at 1080p.
If you have a 576p/720p/1080i display, and it comes across a 720p game, it runs at 720p, and if it comes across a 1080p game, it runs at 720p.
Same with movies. Put in a bluray, it plays at 1080p. Put in a DVD, it plays at 576p.
Turn on the upscaler, and of course, you can upscale DVDs to 1080p or whatever you like. Same with PS2 games. So, it would be a welcome feature, IMO, to upscale 720p games to 1080p. I'd like to see what difference it would make.
Nevertheless, when you do see a game, rendered at, and running at 1080p, it does add something to it. RR7, despite not having the best graphics on the block, does have a certain wow factor at 1080p.
