hsf advice for new build

hi guys

im almost ready to begin my new build.

what do people recommend for an intel c2d E6850 on an asus P5k-e wifi board ?

it will be in an eclipse 62 case if that helps .. oh and the quieter the better, this will be a 'living room' pc.

Fake edit:- this wont be overclocked - will the stock hsf be ok? are they noisy/long lasting ?

if it wont be overclocked then the stock HSF should be fine

butthen again me nooby wait for moree experienced ppl to answer

Get a passive sink like the thermalright HR-01. You will need a case fan at least however.

I would buy a Arctic freezer 7 nice and cheap excellent cooling and as quiet as a dead mouse.

I cant find the thermalright Hr-01 but i looked at the arctic freezer 7 and the noise level is negligible so it looks like this is the one for me

Your welcome, I'm sure you'll be happy I've fitted around 10-15 of them when building PC's and everyone has been great.

In my experience dead mice making crunching nioses. Then again that's probably more down to my cat....

There are cheap passive sinks avialable. Thermaltake sonic tower is one example, the scythe ninja is another. The Arctic freezer 7 does come highly recommended and will give better temps than a passive sink. I'm sure you'll be happy with your choice.
