Traffic Law Quiz

Pretty sure it is D.

The offence is not endorsable (I.E. you won't get any points on your license for it, unless the temporary limit was on a motorway or Dual Carriageway) therefore they do not issue any NIP's nor do they need to be corroborated. You just get stopped at the scene and fined.

IIRC that is.

Does this exclude getting snapped by a camera or what? The temp roadworks on the M8 had average speed cameras, surely if you got snapped by one you would get sent a NIP and thats it?
If this is the case I go with A

whats wrong with now:confused:

Having the textbook answer and scores table is useful ;)

Question 2
Answer D - Section 88 of the Road Traffic Regulations 1984 deals with the temporary speed limits. This section refers to speed restrictions and speed limits. Where a person contravenes a temporary speed restriction, corroboration is not required. A NIP is also not required. Answers A, B and C are therefore incorrect.

Question 3
O'TOOLE was driving an ambulance to a serious injury road traffic accident. O'TOOLE had activated the siren and flashing lights and was approaching a junction controlled by traffic lights, which were showing red. O'TOOLE slowed down on her approach, but drove though the red light. KEYSE, a pedestrian, stepped off the pavement into the path of the vehicle and was struck by the ambulance, sustaining injuries as a result.

In relation to O'TOOLE's driving, which of the following statements are correct?
A. Emergency service crews are entitled to pass through red lights, and O'TOOLE may rely on this exemption to defend her driving.
B. O'TOOLE will not be liable to the injuries caused to KEYSE in these circumstances, as she warned the pedestrian of her approach.
C. O'TOOLE may be guilty of driving without due car and attention, but may have a defence becuase of the serious nature of the accident she was attending.
D. O'TOOLE will be liable for the injuries caused to KEYSE in these circumstances even though she warned the pedestrian of her approach.

Edit: Should have made this an option: E. The silly bint should have been looking where she was going before walking out into a oncoming ambulance and she be locked up to prevent her passing her genes on.

But i'm not so don't say E

I'm saying B+E! Lol and if you look at my score, you may decide it's wise to not follow my example ;)

C.

But none of those quite fit what I understand:

O'Toole may have exemption from the red light if the seriousness of the incident she was attending justified it, but she still has a duty of care to other road users and pedestrians and the law does not automatically protect her from careless/dangerous driving charges.

How blame for such an accident is apportioned would depend on the specific circumstances.
