A friend's new tattoo

Great, explain how a computer game in which you play a pretend guitar can be so meaningful that you would get a tattoo relating to it which will last forever

Read the thread and find the answers ye seek.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not against discrete or subtle tattoo's but am against people smoothering themselves in them. I think it does no favours with employers whatsoever and creates an extremely negative first impression.

So you're against people being happy because of your skewed preconcieved notions of employability and acceptability?

You're ****ed in the head.

I'm sharing an opinion. You post something publically and you will get positive as well as negative opinions. I don't like the tattoo, I find it utterly pointless. I have read his justification, to summarise:

He had a **** tattoo (like 99% of them to be fair), he smokes drugs (probably no coincidence), decided to stop so had a tattoo of the computer game he happened to be playing at the time.

Edit: Regarding employment, I work very closely with extremely prestigious and well respected banks including some extremely high up and influencial people. Not once have I seen a single tattoo on someone which is openly on display. There is no doubt about it, having tatto's which are visible and cannot be covered up will certainly go against you.

And you say i'm ****ed in the head?

The fact is, I have a differing opinion to you yet you get abusive as you don't like my opinions as they don't follow your own.

Ah, the quarterly grab-a-hornets-nest-and-shake-it tattoo thread.

Is there a finer spectator sport? :p

Looks rubbish at the moment, to be honest it would have been better if you posted his hand when it had healed for the finished article. I reserve judgement till then.

i really really like his sleeve, his face work and the stretches
there some pretty awesome art work in there - gorgeous colours in the sleeve
i've only been rough reading this thread - did you mention where he had his sleeve done penski?

i really can't wait to get some more modifications done - tattoos, piercing, stretches, mmmmmm!
i work in the nhs, i am patient facing and i had no problems getting a job.
in fact in a profession where many of this summers graduates struggled to find employment, i attended 4 interviews and was offered 3 positions
i truly believe that if you are good enough at what you do, then modifications will make no difference to your 'employability' in most sectors.

in 20 or so years time, when our generation are the politicians, the business leaders, there will be none of this mindless stigma
i personally can't wait :)

I think this sums him up pretty well. (no offense)

I dont like it, he does. And that is all that matters.

Someone isn't a moron purely because they do not like the same as you. :)

i dont like it, but he had it done for good reasons so fair play to him. :)

better than these so-called tribal tattoos which everyone has and doesnt mean anything to them.

i keep aching to get the tattoo i've been thinking about for years but i'm still unsure about it as it would be so big. it is quite a personal tattoo so its not been rash or for no reason. i told myself when i was 21 that if i was still considering it in a couple of years time i'd have it done but cant afford it anyways at mo as it would be big. :(

I don't know if you seen my post earlier penski, but do you have any images of your own tattoo's, I have one on my back and I am looking to add to it, will put a pick up at some time.
And if some people think that this guys is retarded, mine is based of a japanese anime called naruto, but i still love it!

penski already explained how the computer game has relevance to the guy's life. if you'd read the thread then you'd see that there's more than ample justification for the tattoo - not that the guy needs it anyway.

and if all you care about is the fact that you might be viewed differently by certain employers in the future, then I feel really sorry for you. that's a really sad (as in unhappy, not loserish) way of looking at life.

If an employer wouldn't employ me because of my mods, then that's not a company I want to work for. Their loss.

No pics to hand but they're fairly cheesy - a stylised blackwork toaster, a black band with '*n' in negative space and text on my wrists.

ah i see :) I am currently thinking about a new one, and was looking at going for a 'shadded' style, where a portion of my arm or such would be shadded in, with the actual 'object' of the tattoo being the part that isn't tattooed.
Do you have much experience of this style?
Thanks
