Today was the Election and Liberal lost power to labour.

Just about every single time labour has been in power they have messed up pretty badly. IE interest rates of 11% and higher and a big debt to the country and a crap economy:(

Labour has been in Government in just about every Australian state and AFAIK since they have been there the states have gone in Huge debt.

Labour have already vowelled to sign up to the Kyoto Agreement as soon as they have power, No it might sound like a good thing but its really going to **** with our major income earners(the mining and heavy industry market.

I cant see any good coming from this, all i can see is the economy going back down the toilet after years of Liberal building it back up and putting back into debt
They just better hope to god they dont kill our mining boom or we will be well and truly ******

The new Leader is Kevin Rudd, IMO hes a smarmy little man that doesnt think for him self, He wasnt even thinking for him self on Rove live!(A TV chat show, Every answer and every thing he said was either written down or he had been told what to say if he got asked the questions)

Well i say thank you to John Howard for being one of the best leaders this country has has.

I just hope labour doesnt **** up the country too much:(

What was the reason for everyone voting against Howard, I thought he was quite popular, was it anything to do with his support for the war?

We got some work place relations in.

Labour made a campaign and slagged it off saying how lots of people will get fired and lose there penalty rates and **** and every one slammed Liberal for them.
Then Liberal started a campaign of there own to show there own campaign about the workplace relations and how they work

Then labour slammed them for spending the money(with more advertisements on TV and speaking out in Parliament) on them and then the public slammed them again.

Thats the biggest factor in it

Australia was Strong with John Howard and Liberal.
We will soon be weak again and lots of there work will be undone:(

Here is the new Prime Minister Kevin Rudd

Ah that Rudd dude was the guy who was caught on camera eating his own ear wax wasn't it?

Don't worry too much about it. The world is full of doom and gloom mongers who delight in telling everyone the sky is going to fall in - the reality is they haven't got a clue whats going on.

Yeah thats him:p

But Seriously, Labour have no idea what they are doing, Its not Doom Mongers. Its Labours own actions:(

well since i`ve been here this country has been great.. 3yrs nearly.. found a job in 2weeks being here.. just hope things don`t change to much.. wanted john howard to win ..but thought the fact he wasnt going to see out all the years and hand over to costello his deputy a downside in his campaign.. as long as the sun keeps shining though i`ll be happy.. can keep cold weather over there. unfortunatly couldn`t vote as need to be in country a bit longer. :(

I've just been speaking to a guy who lives in Australia (moved from the UK 4 months ago) and he was telling me about the **** he has to go through in his job because he hasn't got a trade (i.e. he works in IT not a plumber).

What he was telling me is that the company can decide not to pay you overtime and you pretty much have to do it and there are many other issues with working that means you as an employee gets **** upon.

Crazy if you ask me - hope Labour works out well for the country - there must be some reason why people voted for a different government.

You can use the Work place stuff(AWA) against the Employer, Its to make them work things out with you, Say they dont pay you penaltys overtime? You can use that to your advantage by getting them to come to an agreement of some sort, So you can get paid more.

They cant just flat out refuse to pay you over time and make you do it.
He shoudl ahve read his AWA propperly and if he didnt like it he shouldnt have signed it.
He must have just signed it like ticking the Agree box on Terms and conditions on the internet with out reading it and signed his overtime away:p

vowelled? looks like the liberals didnt do too well with the school system.

thank god they are finally out of power, excellent news johnny lost his own seat.

John Howard was a legend.

Seemed to be one of the very few politicians that had the guts to speak his mind.

Hope Labour don't do what they've done to us over in Aus.
