Hello all,

Due to the sheer amount of people wanting for this card and the fact OcUK are having a hard time getting hold of stock do you think I have any chance of getting one of these cards before Christmas or preferably before the 15th Dec?

If not I'll cancel the order and just wait for it to come in stock after Christmas and spend the money on a different product I need.

It's either that or buying the BFG 8800GT OC when that comes in stock next week but I'm not sure if they'll have stock left.

What do you recommend?

If you can overclock, then just buy any as they are all the same and clock it yourself, no point waiting when theres other GT's out there. :)

Main think I'm thinking about is warranty. Plus, I'd prefer a pre-clocked to having to do it myself. I don't trust me :P

If it's warranty you're worried about, then BFG is where I'd put my money.

But, why all the stress over getting a pre-clocked card? Stock cards are very quick too, but then you know that already! :)

Buy a stock one, and then use that as an incentive to learn how to clock it!

Ahh well, if you don't trust yourself at overlcocking, then just buy whichever pre-overclocked one you can find. :)

I wouldn't wait for a specific brand, as they are all the same cards at the end of the day, theres only 1x company making them, and making them all in the same factory, and they all come off the same line.

it's really as easy as sliding up a few sliders...and it saves a few quid.

Yep, as ive been trying to say to the whingers who are seeing other brands in stock but not buying em, instead they come in here whinging saying "ive been waiting weeks for my GT, not happy" etc.., well your own damn fault, click buy on the ones your passing up that are in stock, you could have had your GT's weeks ago now.

EVGA have been very unreliable thus far, but are now just starting to get supplies to market

however, you should certainly recieve your card before Dec15th, stock flow will greatly improve over the next week or so.

By mid December most GT's will be showing as 'in stock'.

just be patient ;)

OCUK isn't the only place that sells them (am I allowed to say that? *shrugs*)

I've got a BFG in the post on its way. Just have a scout round they aren't that difficult to find.

All brands offer warranty, most offer 1-3 years. Which is more than sufficient... afterall, how long do you intend to keep the card for? 20 years? Lifetime warranty is offered by BFG which maybe deemed necessary.

If you want a card now, get the ones that are in stock/stock clocked one. :)

regardless of other shops people just dont want to buy "other brands" i bought my gt the opening week, its a gigabyte card but i know whatever card i bought i would have got the same. maybe one is cherry picked for a stated speed but i know atleast at default speeds i would have got the same as any one else and after all what is 50mhz certainly not £30 lol!

There is no guarantee to overclocking a card and I think the review I posted about EVGA CherryPicking and stress testing cards for top models proves this as only X % make it.

Ive read here some struggle to get 700mhz Core and 2000mhz Memory on their cards, so you either buy any card and take pot luck or you buy a special card and it will run that speed at least or you RMA it as faulty.

Well my card is proof of that.

My BFG won't go past 750/1756/950. :(

Any increase in shaders or memory above that artifacts and crashes the card even at low temp without stress testing it.

Agreed
I cancelled my preorder of the EVGA superclocked version, when I saw that it was delayed again, and I saw that the Asus cards were in stock.
I quickly pounced and changed my order, and now my 8800 GT has been dispatched

Good man, beats waiting another god knows how long for one, as now you have a GT, and i bet it clocks well to boot. :D

Asus one comes with its own Overclocking utility, you can pause mid game, overclock your card, go back to your game at the new speeds, ive never used it like as its fast enough at stock for me. :)

I wont be overclocking it for a while.
The difference between it and my old Geforce 6800 will be so massive I probably wont feel the need to for a while.
That ingame overclocking tool osunds interesting - it will allow you to OC a card and test it mid game - o under immediate stress conditions.
It says it comes with Company of Heroes, but it has Company of Heroes: opposing Fronts expansion on the sticker....
Which does it come with? I already have the original game, but the expansion would be lovely :P
