Quick opinion - EVGA 8800GT SC

Its Opposing Fronts. :)

The Overclocking Utils called Asus GAMER OSD, lets you overclock without stopping the game, does it in real-time, and also has a FPS counter so you can see the improvement straight away. :D

My BFG OC won't go anything over 1728 shader clock so saying they are all the same just isn't true it's potluck some cards are even worse maxing out at 680 core clock.

Well my card is proof of that.

My BFG won't go past 750/1756/950. :(

Any increase in shaders or memory above that artifacts and crashes the card even at low temp without stress testing it.

1756 on rivatuner is actually 1728 realtime yes these bfg's are absolute stinkers cheapo branded ones clock way higher it seems.
You know what to as i do lol will cost me a little bit but who cares no way i'm paying £197 for a card with no game AND is the second worst sample.

Bad luck m8, the guy in post 18 may find that out the hard way, has nothing to do with being hard or easy, its pure luck of the draw buying a non OC card and getting it to that OC limit.

Again no guarantee it can do 1mhz more than its stock.

If i were you i would go for a card with a game you want these oc's are poor value if anything they should come with the game not the other way round.
I think the worst samples seem to be 680mhz if shader linked limited next one up looks like the bfg oc which is around 700mhz limited if linked to shader.

Yes they are actually testing them and cherry picking, bfg seemed to have merely bunged a 625/1566/900 bios on there's without cherry picking and just using bog standard samples.

Called it an OC and bunged a sticker on.
I think i can safely say that any gt out there will hit those clocks.

I just presumed BFG would be cherry picking the good boards for their OC range only reason i went bfg and now find it's worse or no better than a vanilla big mistake.

A word of caution though i would imagine 90% of these cards will hit 700/1750/900 so evga could simply slap a sticker on one that which that is it's max clock also.

For me the only way to go here is to get the cheapest possible or the cheapest possible with the game you want, asus card is a great deal if you have coh but don't have opposing fronts.

I dont care for a free game or anything else, I want the best card.
If I want a game I buy it, infact I said no thanks to the offer of a free game from OCUK just after I bought my card as a deal came out and everyone on forums was wanting the game they just missed out on.

And it was me that posted the EVGA Cherry Picking/Testing review, and I doubt they just pass some that aint been tested as it would cause comeback.

No i am saying the threshold of the tested cards may even be a few mhz over the stock bios if it's stable at 700/1750/900 there's absolutely every chance that it may not be stable at 710/1760/900 and the threshold could be even less than that.
