weekend football spoilers thread 24/25 Nov

Lfc fan iirc

yup.

They are 3 dirty buggers though.

Maybes not the 3 dirtiest, atleast they dont go around slapping people in the face like mr essien, very silly. Derby showed good spirit in second half, think they'll be straight back up after a season in championship:)
What was with Pizzaro's dramatics? jesus that bit of acting at the end was appauling, would have been an outrage if the derby player had wound up with a yellow.

He's going to miss the Arsenal game now, thats going to be a huge loss to Chelsea.

Bloody superb!!! John Terry should have been given a straight red as well. The dirty fouling ******. That second goal shouldn't have counted. I remember last year when Essien equalized against us (Arsenal), Cashley **** fouled Hlebio in the build up :/

Grrr..

eh? are you talking about the second chelsea goal today? not a chelsea fan but it was shevchenko that tracked back and made the tackle, and replay shows he clearly got the ball, and barnes actually went down by his feet hitting shev's back because he'd at that point slid infront of barnes. barnes wasn't hurt from the contact, but he feel with his ankle flat and legs went down hard on then, it was an unfortunate fall. it could easily have been given as a foul, for sure, but in all honesty he came in mostly from the side, very very clearly got the ball and the contact was after that and not too bad.

what i can say is i was mighty surprised it took them so long to get the second and millers goal should certainly of counted. i don't think cudicini could have saved it as he was in no mans land at that point, he had stopped playing from the whistle, but if he hadn't, the lob had him beat and he was more than a yard onside. terrible call there, very unfair for miller.

i didn't watch the whole game though, what did terry do?

as for happy england players, some more than others, gerrard started off being booed, but nothing by the end really. lampard and swp were getting booed constantly, lampard much more though and when he was subbed he was booed all the long walk off. wasn't helped that the fans thought barnes had been fouled and it was lampard who picked up the ball and made the goal.

Very disappointed by Newcastle today, all over the place defensively at times, some Championship sides would have been ashamed at that. They kept standing off Liverpool and even when the ball fell to them at the back they seemed to want a touch too many.

Liverpool on the other hand are looking menacing, unbeaten in the league this season and will rise to second if they win their game in hand. They have a stronger squad this season than in the past which could prove valuable in the gruelling winter schedule.

i would say liverpool look incredibly lucky to be where they are, a strong defense is whats given them a lot of draws where they could have lost easily. pompie game, and quite a few others. torres, for ages when he was an arsenal target i'd watch a spanish game or la liga and he'd look brilliant, or completely inept. more often than not he missed dozens of chances. take out the whipping boys derby and he's only hit 3 goals, a missed a ridiculous amount. he had a hatrick literally handed to him on a plate today and fluffed those and way more. on a great day with the worlds best striker, there would have been a chance of hitting 6 or 7 goals. he was AWFUL today. he missed an open goal ffs, right after he panicked into shooting when he could have gone around given and walked it into the net.

you need to buy a striker to get rid of the draw's before you are real title contenders imho. so do we though, maybe, unless fabregas can finish the season on 30+ /prays.
babel looked very very powerful again today though, but honestly, newcastle were just horrific, there defense was pretty injury stricten, but with the first team players all in they are leaking goals all over. literally playing with only geremi on the right wing jsut gave pool complete domination for 35 mins, and after that there was no coming back. fans are already on fat sams back. they made an over the top roar of approval when it was clear milner was coming on, and a overwhelming booing when they realised it was n'zogbia coming off. i can see fat sam not lasting the season.

I'm more than happy with Torres tbh, he's never been the world greatest finisher, far from it in fact but every game he'll offer you something, whether it'll be stretching a defence with his pace, or creating a chance for another player. He's more than capable of getting 20+ a season.

We do however need another striker with Crouch looking like leaving, Kuyt and Voronin are both average players and we need a bit of class up there with Fernando.

Dammit, I thought you were a Sunderland fan, was gonna rip you for today's result :(

There's a difference between shooting when there is a genuine opportunity, and a winger trying to sneak one in the near post when there is a teammate free on the penalty spot, or blazing one across goal from a stupid angle.

If he was deployed as a striker, then maybe it would be acceptable, but not from the rightwing.

Yeah but when the one of those strikers is Kuyt, who doesn't really look like scoring intentionally then you can understand his thinking, plus he does have a fair bit of power in those shots.

Having seen the highlights, I was under the impression that United had ditched this "we only have to show up to win" attitude.

Awfully wasteful in front of goal, I can't believe Tevez's miss.

Terry controlled himself well after Essien got sent off :D

Yeah, I was a bit disappointed earlier, but so many things that made me laugh on MotD -

  • Essien's "slap"
  • Roy Keane's face as his side slowly get shredded
  • Carson keeping a clean sheet
  • Gerrard's free kick
  • Alan Shearer trying not to cry as his beloved Newcastle get throttled by Liverpool

I could go on... :D
