The most beautiful melody ever?

Good thread for me as I'm almost exclusively motivated by melodies rather than lyrics when it comes to music (there are many songs where I imitate the sounds but don't actually know the words).

Thought I'd throw something out there from more mainstream rock: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQJXYc5Zq6k

Also, I'm amazed that something this heavy (not normally my style at all) can sound so beautiful: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=BsYgcACfWTw

Well if we're talking rock it has to be Scorpions Wind Of Change: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=taVW8Kv2HcQ

I've got a few that no one has mentioned so far, although perhaps my idea of a beautiful song doesn't quite match up to the rest of you (for me it's about the feeling of the entire song, not just a melody or beautiful lyrics):

Nick Drake - Things behind the sun - Something about this one just really gets to me.
Joanna Newsom - Bridges and balloons - If you can get past the voice that is.
Antony & The Johnsons - Hope there's someone - It's probably one of the most tortured songs I've heard yet at the same time it really is beautiful.

You're not alone in being like that by the way. I actually find it quite a challenge to remember any lyrics at all even with my favourite songs.

Since I got nothing better to do right now, I'm gonna pick some tunes out...

Air - Alone In Kyoto
Might remember it from a certain film :) Quite minimal and really beautiful.

The Album Leaf - Wet The Day
Something about this track's melody hits me, as does a lot of TAL's sons. I just find it gorgeous.

Angelo Badalamenti - Twin Peaks Theme
I love Twin Peaks, and god damnit I love the melody in this piece.

Autechre - Nine
From the album Amber, where Ae were a bit easier on the ears Mesmerizing.

Biosphere - Poa Alpina
I love ambient, and this track is utter bliss.

Boards of Canada - Kid for Today
Possibly the most beatiful Boards track, but it's hard to single one out.

Chicane - Halcyon
Always considered this one of the most beatiful trance melodies ever written...

The Dead Texan - Glen's Goo
All of Dead Texan's stuff is beautiful, the melodies in this are so good.

DJ Shadow - Fixed Income
I guess Shadow isn't something you'd immediately associate with "Beautiful" but I find this track is.

Explosions In The Sky - Greet Death
Main riff = win.

Godspeed You Black Emperor
Not gonna list a single track or album since just about every melody they make is beautiful. :)

Gregor Samsa - These Points Balance
Not a very well known artist, but the melody in this one is special.

Jakob - Solace (Album)
All you post-rockers check this album out. Every track is mindblowing.

Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah
Don't really need to comment :p

Mono - Lost Snow
Damn powerful, damn beautiful.

Múm - The Land Between Solar Systems
Beautiful Icelandic epicness!

Nick Drake - Fruit Tree
:(

Oceansize - Music For A Nurse
Heard this on some advert a while ago and desperately searched for it. :)

Radiohead - Reckoner
Could list many, but this being their most recent stand-out beatiful song. Incredible!

Royksopp - Sparks
Melody A.M. rocks. This track is so smooth it's like ear sex.

Sigur Rós - Untitled 4
Hard to pick just one, but I went for this one!

Susumu Yokota - Saku
Japanese ambient eargasm!

Yndi Halda - Illuminate My Heart, My Darling!
To reiterate. :)

/\ Some good tracks there, love Royksopp and The Album Leaf.

Ave Maria - Barbara Bonney http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQVz6vuNq7s
There have been many renditions of 'Ave Maria' but this is by far the best, the melody of the piano is the perfect complement to Barbara's amazing voice.

Max Richter - Daylight http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpMfjazKIvU
This guy is a genius when it comes to modern contemporary classical, he really deserves to be more famous than he is.

Enigma - Sadness http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBsZjfbDqu4

Robert Miles Fable - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33tD3gGstT8
One of Robert Miles best tracks I think, the melody of the piano in this (non message version) of fable is just enchanting.

The Verve - Bitter Sweet Symphony http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-Po8uJeoUw
Who can not fall in love the violin riff on this track, fantastic track.

Massive Attack - Teardrop http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fG8eQBSp9Ao
Fantastic subtle guitar riff, awesome video as well.

Moby - Hym http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQhmOciXlMA

Phillip Glass - Helens Theme http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7X2m_kzY0LU&feature=related
An absolutely sensational track from the movie Candyman, stunning piano intro thats leads into a dark and moody blow organ melody accompanied by haunting choir backing.

Air - Surfin On A Rocket http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dn3Kszyxbuo

Sigur Rós - Untitled 4
Hard to pick just one, but I went for this one!

Man I've never even heard of Sigur Rós before but I've been previewing some of their tracks and they are awesome, just the stuff I like, Will definitely be buying their albums.
