Whos ditching 8800 GT for new rev GTS?

Like with the lauch of the GT, we'll probably all be biting our nails, waiting for benchmarks to come out, and then waiting for them to come into stock etc
(Well the enthusiasts amongst us).
If it is considerably faster than the 8800GT then I'll ditch the old hat stuff for a newer model.
And If I get anything more than £136 for my GTs then I'm in the money. wohoo. :p

Yeah, I know it looks faster on paper, but why release a "replacement GTS" that's faster than a GT?

Surely it would have made more sense if they had released the current GT as the new GTS, and then introduce the new (faster) 128sp card as the GT?

That would maintain the current naming logic of GTX > GT > GTS

The new G92 is a die shrink so cheaper to produce.

The Old GTS is end of line.

I think the manufacturers are not content with just confusing the average lay man, they now want even the most grizzled graphic card veterans to scratch their heads trying to work what cards are what?? :D

Its not hard to get TBH

GTX and ultra (for now) are the top cards

Then new GTS

Then new GT

When the new GTX comes (It won't)

The 9 series will come to greet us.

Its all very easy.

yes, but only because my GT died, and stock being the way it is i was given a refund instead of another GT. so might as well spend the refund on the new GTS instead. ;)

However adding to that the new GTS will be close to ultra speeds but this is speculation.

Anyway the GTX an ultra are just not worth buying anymore for the money and NV know this.

That why GTX ULTRA and GTS are end of line.

I think I saw a GTX go in MM for 200 before too.

 I pretty much said that in my first post.

My point is, if the new card is faster than a GT, then why not call it a GS, or some other name? Why use the same name as a card that's slower than the GT?

We'll have GTS > GT > GTS, which will be very confusing for people who don't follow the daily saga of gfx card releases.

One GTS will have 512mb ram and be a G92

The other GTS (end of line) will have 320mb/640mb and be a G80 core.

Unless one is a noob its easy to make the distinction.
