New Half-Life 2 Insurgency Beta 2 - MP MOD

Well don't hope for much will you as in my opinion it is Complete & utter Crap. Totally vague, about as much control & feel as one of those fair ground crane pick up booth things.
Gutted i wasted the 20 mins or so downloading it.

Exactly what I thought of the first one. Cheers for the heads up:D

Do they have crosshairs on it yet? :)

I downloaded it a while ago as a lot of people from cs:s were saying how good it was, but I was a bit dissapointed :( altho the graphics were ok

That's what I thought when I downloaded it before :(

The main thing is lack of a crosshair, the controls seem a bit slow at times and also whenever I went on it online, there were people camping the spawn and shooting everyone in the back of the head as soon as they spawned.

Loving this mod, still lots of room to improve but the new objective system has vastly changed gameplay. People actually seem to head for the objectives and work together now.

You need to set the mouse sensitivity up higher for this game for some reason. Else it feels a bit clunky.

Lack of a crosshair is a good thing. That's what iron sites are for.
Must be a bit too complicated for people who have only ever played css to cope with though.... :|

Sigh

:p

edit: I guess I should write more than that...
I haven't even played INS since the first (and last I think) OcUK INS community night because I have too many other things to play, but that's really the whole point of the game. Games based on realism imo should have no crosshairs. Games like tf2, ut & css of course should. If you think it needs a crosshair you're playing the wrong thing ;)

(or you're not using ironsights)

more editing: I would question the adding of a map too.. I mean there were quite a few problems with finding objectives before but I'm sure there must be a better method of giving you situational awareness than a map.

Cool :)

I guess I'm just too oldskool in FPS to get it :(
I just got irritated with the idea of having no crosshair.

Realism is good, but when it effects (hinders) the gameplay I just think it's a waste of time :(

Never played, never seen it, but in regards to keeping realism with a map I have one suggestion. How about a map you have to stop and look at?

So rather than an on-screen map that tracks everyone, simply have the map as an item you have to equip and use. The character may then have to spend x amount of time working out your own location and any routes/objectives you will have to memorise, lest you get the map out again.

Just a thought.

That would be good, with no indicator for your current location so you have to look at landmarks first to find where you are. That could be fun and challenging!

Have the animations improved enough? I thought it was one of the most polished HL2 mods I've played (along with Dystopia :)) but the models were so horrible it really put me off.

I gave this a go and its got too much recoil and crashes a lot. The M16A4 is ok but anything else just points at the sky even with burst or single shot.

Nice to see a map but green icons on a green map is a stupidly poor choice of colours
