What car is this (old American taxi)

I was in New York last week and this old taxi was parked outside a Mexican restaurant we went to. It looked quite cool and I was wondering what it was. I didn't notice any badges or anything at the time. Can anyone shed any light?

With that front it's a Studebaker of some kind.

That nose design is very specific, and was found on this certain manufacturers cars. Humber keeps coming to mind but that's not it. It begins with H though, I'm sure of that.

Think that's the name of it. It was quite a way downtown, about 8th or 10th street.
