Xbox 360 racing game

I've went off driving games somewhat but I still find Burnout and Flatout UC brilliant if you're just wanting some driving fun. So either of those two get a thumbs up from me. :D

Forza2 is an amazing game with one big BUT... the long races get very boring very quick. Once the championships turn into 6x30min races its just too long

Yeah, i'd have to agree with you. The tracks can get very samey too which is a bit annoying. It is still a great game though.

Forza 2 If you want a Simulation

Personally I find PGR4 no more arcadey than Forza 2 on simulation levels. The rear end is far to easy to control and uforgiving. The race cars are very strange in the way that they handle, no feel at all and no more difficult to drive than say an MX5.

Between the 2, if its a dedicated sim your after than go back to the PC, as Forza 2 is no way a sim. Yes its a little more hardcore than PGR, but probably by 5% or so. Persoanlly I was very let down by Forza 2, as it was by no way as hard as I was hoping.

This man speaketh the truth. In no month of sundays is either Forza 2 or PGR4 a simulation. If you want proper simulation, as been said above go on the pc. Games like GTR, LFS and Grand Prix legends are where its at, to state that FM2 or PGR4 as simulation is laughable tbh.

Turn off the assists then :D The race cars are strange in what way? have you ever driven a race car to know how they handle?

Forza is as close to sim as you can get on a console, it's not quite up there with PC sims, but its not far away, real driving is not that hard by the way, even your mum can do it :D I don't know why people think sim=hard, its quite far from the truth.

CLOSE ENOUGH FOR YOU?

They understeer, and oversteer together and seem to do what they want.

Turned ABS off? Touch the brake and instant lock, ermmmmm WTF.

Look up Ferrari Challenge, PS3 ;)

I never said i want it to be hard, I said it was no harder to control than PGR4, which is advertised as an arcade game.

So you are saying it is as easy to control as it is in PGR4? So when you went to your track day you found it hard? you were unable to drive? what? The cars in Forza react quite well to basic physics, the brakes are wrong no doubt about that but the basic physics of driving are quite correct, fwd cars handle as expected as do rwd as do 4wd, the weight transfer works, the suspension seems to work, the tyre physics seem to work, so what really is not sim about it for you?

Never found the race cars to understeer and oversteer at the same time, due to that being pretty much impossible :) Maybe you need to work on your car setup, which strangely enough does affect the handling, but again probably not sim enough for you having those options :)

Ferrari challenge on PS3 is released? developed by some guy saying NFS is good? oh ok then LOL

Where did I say it was not? You are the one hyping a game as a sim that is not even out for goodness sake. Most of these modern cars use ABS IRL anyway so with that on the braking is rather fine, and the braking is a lot better when using a wheel and pedals, but if you are sim racing with a control pad then it's always going to lose some of the effect :) try GTR or rFactor with a 360 pad and you can see how close Forza actually got.

And yes Forza has driving physics pretty much as good as most PC sims, if it could have grids of 40 people then it would be good competition for the PC sims but until then it will never reach those heights. But there is not much point debating it, you don't think its a sim, I do, I don't think LFS is a good sim, while others do, its all down to personal impressions and what you feel from the game.

PGR4 :D

PS -

Dunno why people in general recommend Forza for "simulation". When I played the demo and used the E36 M3, it in no way simulated the actual E36 M3 that I used to own! In the game it was an oversteery nightmare of a boat that couldn't be driven round any corners! lol

Which is quite real, but when your plodding round at 30MPH then it will be fine :)

If you seen what he does to his poor cars then you wouldnt say that. I can still picture his drift day where you couldnt see any of the car for mud, poor CSL :)

O/T: Mr Tax Evader, is it your CSL in the recent ring meet thats in motors? I know its not gibbos, and im curious.

That because you have to tune your car around assists. You obviously can't tune your cars to run without abs as thats why you keep locking them up. If you get it right you can actually stop a lot sooner then having abs. Also if you think forza is so easy to race and is only 5% more simulation then PGR4. Please prove me wrong by making a car yourself and putting it in the top 50 of any of the real world tracks in the main classes. Thats the main thing i notice when people diss forza. They can't tune their cars. Get handed online and then say the game is crap. Which i guess is why PGR4 appeals to a lot of people because it doesn't have much of a steep learning curve as Forza 2 has.

From the OP's post anyway he wants Forza 2 anyway. Fun is also a opinion. Some people find it fun to collect stamps. Others find it fun to cook. I find it fun to spend hours tuning cars, hours painting cars and hours racing online. Ive done over 1400 races online with around 150 hours race time. I find it very difficult to pick up another racing game as i just can't do the same level of customization to my cars and tune them to the way i want them. Everything else i have played is just automatic transmission, press the gas and go round the corner. That is boring and not fun to me at least.
