Panic over, Seems it hasn't been stolen, the policed authorized it to be taken away due to obstructing a drive, which is rubbish as to be honest the railings don't look like a driveway and there are always cars there, including another one right now, but today there is a hand painted sign saying no parking outside the gate. Also the police did nothing to contact us with regards to moving it and it had been there for less than 24hrs...

So now we have to try and find £112 to have it released and we have to wait until tomorrow to collect it.

So i will be filing an official complaints form too

LOL

Wife: Hello Officer, our car was stolen
Cop: When
Wife: Um last used it Saturday
Cop: its now Monday afternoon! What are the details?
Wife: FY51 ODM
Cop: It hasn't been stolen, we towed it as you were illegally parked
Wife: <embarrassed> Ummmmm </Embarrassed>

This happened to another of the Sales people here, basically somebody packed too close to his car and bumped it. This set the alarm off, which proceeded to go on for 3 hours.

The police were called and they towed it away as anything over 5 minutes is classed as "noise pollution".

He thought it was stolen, called the police who said they had towed it (and struggled to get it out of the space due to the badly parked neighbour) and he had to pay £140 to release the car.

The car is now being looked at due to the alarm fault (going off for too long) and now he has a "poke mobile" and everybody rips the wee out of him!!!

Recovery Companies make an absolute steal from the Police... esp for this sorta thing..

And the Plod who call them get a nice 'drink' off the Recovery firms too ;)

Well asides from the Stat Fees they have to pay, theres a call out charge of about £110-120, then vehicle storage at about £14 a day.. its silly.

For more sophisticated stuff like things needing a HIAB, and L/HGVs basic charge is in excess of £300..

Thing that gets me is we live 5 mins walk tops and they have all this vehicle identity equipment, yet they choose not to use it, already spoken to an ex copper who has given us some assistance in the direction to take....

We are talking about somebody so daft they didn't realise the police had towed their car...

You may have a point....:D

Gimme a break here I'm trying to win you a prize ffs! :(

Police round here are taking back handers from the Towers.

WHen my brother crashed they wouldn't let him choose who towed it where, just said "X recovery company are taking it to a scrap yard in Ulverston." 60 miles away!
