What the hell??

How does this mouse have no red light and still work?

Can it still hurt my eyes?

Im gobsmacked by this thing, I don't get it. LOL

Cheers,

G

p.s. 8 months battery life has got to be BS surely? I'm guessing they mean for someone who uses it for like 5 minutes a day or something?

Can that hurt my eyes?

or more importantly my son's eyes.

just in the same way a visible led would. normal exposure will be harmless, as would a normal LED but staring at it for hours on end will do the same damage a normal LED would, but in a different way.

:)

No it can't, it's near the spectrum of visible light so it's safe

incorrect.

One way to tell in it is IR. Hold up a camera phone and watch it while you press buttons etc. Works for TV remotes and the like too.

Ermmm...I think you need to look at this... IR falls right next to the spectrum of visible light... I didn't study A2 Physics for nothing...

It could also be UV (other end of the spectrum) - but IR led's are cheaper than UV ones, so I'm gonna go with IR also...

CCTV and traffic lights (I think) also use IR, so I doubt it's very harmful.

Nope, logitech are bloody good with battery life. I bought an LX7 in january and didn't have to change the batteries till august. used it daily as my mouse for over a year last year and have since given it to my mum. It is yet to need another battery change.

:)

I think what he was getting at is that you were wrong to say that it's not harmful because it's close to visible light. Any electro-magnetic radiation can be harmful given enough power (Or amplitude as we say in the biz ;) ). I work with a Green laser at work that can engrave my name on the back of a penny, Visible light, but not the kind you want to mess with.

wasn't the first mouse to go without the red light Razer's Diamondback plasma?
I know my DeathAdder is also infra red :)

i'm doing A2 Physics right now too. thats not the point, because you don't learn about high-powered lasers in A2 physics.

just because the photoreceptors in the eye are not stimulated by IR light, it is still damaging to them.
